I've felt connected to animals my entire life. One of my earliest memories as a child was finding abandoned nests by the river and trying to incubate the forgotten eggs. There were always plenty of baby birds that would fall from the nests of their trees at my childhood home. My brother and I would nurse them back to health. For the last nine years I have been blessed with the most amazing companion that I could ever ask for, Thorton. He is my German Shepherd that I've raised since he was a puppy. Thorton was as stubborn as they come and taught me so much about persistence, patience, and balancing love and alpha energy. Thorton also has EPI, so I am very used to administering medication on a regular basis. I also have been thoroughly studying pet nutrition on my own and have since been making Thorton homemade meals. He has also had TPLO on both knees. These unfortunate incidents have also prepped me to handle big surgeries. I am also a certified Reiki Master and soon to be taking a program for animal Reiki. I find that this provides calm energy for animals that I come into contact with. This skill is very helpful in building trust, especially for those who are shy and aloof.
