Hayden can care for
Availability
I work full time as a pharmacy technician and will soon begin pharmacy school. Although I must leave the house for these activities, I study best in a quiet, private environment, so I will be spending my evenings in the house with your pets. Interacting with animals provides a much-appreciated opportunity to unwind, so your pets will receive plenty of attention and quality time. I will be available in the mornings before work or school and in the evenings for bathroom breaks, walks, and play.

Safety, trust & environment
My goal while pet sitting is to provide care as similar as possible to the care you provide each day and build a rapport with your pet that establishes a relationship of consistency, security, and calmness. To that end, I use methods that allow the animal to set the pace in terms of approach, interaction, and touch. For example, I subscribe to Cesar Milan's philosophy of No Touching, No Talking, No Eye Contact when first meeting pets, especially dogs. Whether a pet is excited or afraid to meet new people, the goal of this method is to make the initial interaction as calm as possible and not reenforce excited behavior. This technique is especially effective for anxious and defensive animals and significantly reduces the risk of bites and scratches. I also understand that some pets bond more through walks or play and have taken time to learn play methods for both dogs and cats that promote engagement and help overcome wariness of strangers.

Pet care experience
Since I was twelve years old, my family has had dogs, cats, and fish. Being the primary caregiver for the family pets while growing up provided excellent training in foundational care such as feeding, grooming, waste clean-up, regular walks, and playing with both dogs and cats. As the family pets have aged, they have developed health conditions that have given me extensive experience administering oral medication, insulin injections, and IV drip infusions. I have also frequently cared for the pets of many coworkers and customers over the past eleven years. While I enjoy caring for animals of all personality types, I find working with anxious or “unfriendly” pets the most rewarding. I often find these dogs and cats are perfectly capable of behaving and tolerating new people when treated with patience, calmness, and confidence. I subscribe to Cesar Milan’s philosophies of dog training and apply many of his techniques, such as No Touching, No Talking, No Eye Contact when meeting new dogs. These methods have yielded great success, especially with high anxiety animals. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and your pets and provide care that makes everyone feel safe, relaxed, and confident.

Reviews

I really appreciated the time he took to meet the dogs and understand their needs. He was prepared and not put off by my anxious and loud dogs. We have a lot of work to do with them, but it's nice to find somebody who can work with us every step of the way.

Hayden was great! Great communication, took time to understand my anxious dogs needs. And very helpful with accommodating our last minute needs.

Kayde and Bella are both large breed puppies and very energetic with specific needs. Hayden did a phenomenal job with communication, planning, and was reliable and proactive in meet and greet as well as learning the routine from the beginning. He did very well with the dogs although they can be difficult, and they were very settled and happy when I got home from the trip. Hayden was respectful of the home, the dogs, and did a great job. I would strongly recommend.

Hayden is great! He communicated well and came over to learn everything about my house and Wazee before I left for my trip.
