Pet care experience

Your pet will be treated as a member of our family

I grew up with pets in the household and have been looking after dogs of various ages and sizes since I was a teenager. I've also previously looked after birds, including an aviary of finches and budgies and their young, as well as budgies as 1:1 pets in the home. I've been lucky enough to have my cavapoo, Ellie, since she was a puppy, so am experienced in puppy training and care. To build on our existing puppy knowledge, Ellie and I both completed puppy training with Dogs Trust, which included basic puppy training, care and dog body language. I understand the importance of ensuring a puppy is supported to safely explore new scenarios and build their confidence and are experienced in facilitating this. I've also adopted senior dogs in the past (aged 13+), so I'm very comfortable with delivering medication in-line with vet instructions and using mobility aids such as ramps and dog buggies to ensure that my seniors are able to continue exploring during their retirement years. One of my seniors was also deaf, so I have experience with caring for and training deaf dogs. I currently have a cavapoo and conure, so understand what's needed to ensure the safety and happiness of different species in the same household. To ensure the safety and comfort of my own pets, I'm unfortunately unable to care for cats. Due to the size of our home, we can only accept small and medium dogs, as we want to ensure any pets staying with us have lots of space and frolicking room!

Safety, trust & environment

I have an enclosed, secure back garden with three tiers - a patio, grass, and pebbles. Each section can be gated off, so if your dog has issues with steps, I can keep them secure in the patio area only or supervise them/carry them to the grass. The house has two floors and I have a baby gate on the stairs should a dog have issues with stairs and need to be kept on one floor. The front garden has a set of stairs down to my front door. If your dog has mobility issues but is happy to be lifted, I will happily give them a boost and carry them up and down as needed. If your dog is comfortable in a car, I will take them out for different walks. I have a cover for the back seats and seatbelt clips, so any dogs travelling with me will do so safely and in-line with legal requirements.

This was the first time we ever left our dog with a stranger and Harriet was fantastic with her! She sent loads of updates and pictures which was so reassuring and Vivie was taken good care of and also had a fab time ☺️ Thank you so much again!

This the second time Rolo has stayed with Harriet. I reckon he had a wonderful stay. I was grateful Harriet sent regular updates and photos of Rolo. Being a puppy I wanted to be sure he was okay (and behaving!). Having stayed with Harriet before he remembered her, her home and lovely dog Ellie. He will going back to stay in March.

Harriet was brilliant with our Alfie. She kept in contact with regular updates and photos and put our mind at rest when he was unsettled. I would have no hesitation in using her services again and recommending her to friends and family. Thank you Harriet!

Rolo stayed with Harriet whilst I had a trip to hospital. We did a meet and greet and Rolo immediately took to Harriet and her lovely dog Ellie. Rolo is a lively 8 month old puppy and so I wanted to be sure he'd be happy where he stayed and that the sitter would manage his puppy behaviour! Harriet kept me informed with helpful messages and lovely photos of Rolo whilst he stayed with her. She proved very helpful and flexible when we had to change times for taking and collecting Rolo. All in all I think Rolo had a great stay with Harriet and when future trips are scheduled I will be booking Harriet again.

Harriet was excellent. She took the time to understand Freddie and updated us during his stay to reassure us that all was well. Highly recommended!

Schedule

I work from home for four days a week as standard and have the flexibility to stay home all week on the days where I'm also looking after a pet. Your pet will never be left lonely while with me and will be treated as a member of the family during their stay.

0 to 7 kg
7 to 18 kg
Dogs over 1 year old
Harriet can host up to 1 walk per day
If your dog has any special needs, please let me know. I'm more than happy to administer medication in-line with your vet's recommendations. As I have one introverted, but friendly dog as part of our household, I'm afraid I'm unable to accept dogs who are distressed by other dogs.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
