Pet care experience

Experienced dog and cat lover

I am a massive animal lover, and particularly love dogs and cats! I grew up with them, have looked after them for family members and have volunteered with them over the years. This volunteer work includes being a member of trusted housesitters, where I'd stay at people's homes as a holiday and look after their pets whilst they went away in return for free accommodation. I was also a member of Borrow My Doggy, where I'd look after people's dogs in my home, their home and walk them. In addition, I was a dog walker for the RSPCA, and volunteered as a clinic assistant at a medical clinic for stray cats and dogs in Thailand. I now have my own little dog, who i’ve had for 2 and a half years.

Pets

Safety, trust & environment

When looking after a pet in your home or taking them on a walk I would leave my dog at home so I can concentrate on yours. During a drop in I would give your pet lots of fuss and attention, make sure they are ok and do anything specifically required such as take them to the toilet or feed them.

Was down in Newquay for a SUP Surf camp and as weather pretty warm wanted a dog sitter for during the day. Luckily Harriet was free, Agatha loved her time there, (was whining with excitement on the 2nd day as we turned down to the house). Harriet was flexible on the timings, when I ran a bit later than planned the 2nd day. Agatha had a good walk along with a chill on the sofa, would highly recommend and use again if I’m down in Newquay.

Harriet looked after my dog when she lived in my local area. My dog is very anxious but was always happy with Harriet, who fed him, walked him, patted him and met his every need. She was always friendly, reliable and co-operative.

Harriet (Hattie) looked after my dog Luna while she was living in Bristol. She was always reliable, friendly and clearly loves dogs. Luna was a bully breed and was a big and strong dog (with a soft heart). Hattie was not intimidated by her breed or size and was confident in her interactions with Luna. Which showed how relaxed she is around dogs. I never felt uneasy about leaving Luna in her care and I was sad when she said she'd be leaving Bristol. Hattie has a quiet and calm demeanour, which made Luna feel safe. Anyone who has Hattie caring for their dog can be confident they're in good hands!

Harriet looked after our young black Labrador with care and kindness. She understood that as a bouncy young dog he needed lots of walks and hugs. He loved being with her and she gave him all the attention he needed. Harriet also fed and kept an eye on our feral cats and other farm animals.

Let me know if your dog has any special needs or particular behaviours that I should take into account. And, if walking whether I need to keep them on the lead or not. A meet and greet before a booking would also be a good idea.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
