- Kona is a 4 year, 1 mo. old Chihuahua & Mixed in Berkeley, CA
Kona is a very mellow, calm, gentle dog. She rarely barks. She needs slow introduction to other dogs, but she's usually okay with approaching humans. Giant or sudden motions, loud noises can scare Kona greatly (she was rescued, so there seems to be some sort of abuse she may have suffered). She's a big fat couch potato but once in a blue moon all her energy piles up and she suddenly explodes! She runs back and forth, hopping on and off the sofa, or if she's outside in an enclosed off-leash park, she'll run around all over the place. This is very rare behavior for her, so if it does not happen, do not worry. She loves to be pet and loves cuddling right up against you under a cover, or hanging out in her den.

Because she walks as she poops/pees a lot of the time, I put out about five pads. She might still miss
- Gets along with children: No
Only had one experience with an infant, so maybe older children might be okay. She was only scared because the baby didn't realize her strength when trying to pet Kona.
- Gets along with other dogs: Yes
- Gets along with cats: Yes
As long as the cat isn't antagonizing her, she does well!
She is prone to back injury because of her short legs-long back ratio. She must be carried up and down the stairs, not on her back, with her back/lower extremities being supported.
