I’m a Cornell student spending the summer in New York City interning for Weill Cornell Medical Center, which gives me a flexible schedule for pet care. I’m available throughout the week for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting, and I’m happy to work with owners to find times that fit their pet’s routine. I’m reliable, responsive, and understand the importance of consistency when caring for animals.

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. Through my Fear Free training and shelter experience, I’ve learned how to recognize signs of stress, respect boundaries, and create positive experiences for animals. I carefully follow feeding instructions, medication schedules, walking routines, and any special care requests. I also provide updates and photos so you can feel confident knowing your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for while you’re away.

Information Halimah H. would like to know about your pet

Before caring for your pet, I'd love to know about their routine, personality, energy level, and any special needs. Please let me know about feeding schedules, medications, favorite activities, things they dislike, and anything that helps them feel comfortable. The more I know, the better I can make sure your pet feels safe, happy, and cared for while you're away.

A typical day

A typical day depends on each pet's personality and routine. For dogs, that usually includes walks, playtime, plenty of bathroom breaks, and lots of attention throughout the day. For more active dogs, I'm happy to go on longer walks and explore nearby parks. For lower-energy pets, I'm just as happy hanging out and keeping them company. I also love keeping pets engaged through games, treats (if approved), toys, and enrichment activities. For cats, that might mean wand toys, laser pointers, window watching, or simply giving them the attention and pets they deserve. My goal is always to make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, active, and loved while you're away.

Pet care experience

Animals have always been a huge part of my life. I have hands-on experience caring for both dogs and cats through pet ownership, fostering, and volunteering at an animal shelter. I personally have T1D diabetes so if your pet has it too, I am not afraid to deal with it!! I’m also a Fear Free Shelter Certified and volunteered with AnimalKind, where I learned how to safely interact with animals of different personalities, stress levels, and backgrounds. I understand that every pet is different, and I take the time to build trust, follow routines carefully, and make sure each animal feels comfortable and cared for. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply having a calm and reliable presence around, I’m happy to provide the care that fits their needs.

Halimah is one of the most caring and responsible people I know. She has a natural love for animals and always goes above and beyond to make sure pets are happy, comfortable, and well cared for. She is reliable, attentive, and trustworthy, and I would feel completely confident leaving my pets in her care. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for an exceptional pet sitter!
