Safety, trust & environment
Safety: I meet the needs of the animal in front of me in a fun and positive way! I have over 2 years of experience working hands on in a veterinary clinic, and physical safety and mental well-being are always the top priority. I am also CPR and First Aid Certified. I always make sure pets are secure inside and outside the home, have all their needs met, and watch for signs of medical issues. I also keep a close eye on body language, that way I can create space when they need it, to keep any anxiety and stress to a minimum.
Information Haley W. would like to know about your pet
Important Info: I need to know of any allergies and other medical needs. I also need an honest rundown of behavior. I can handle most issues, but want to be prepared, that way everyone can stay safe. It’s very important to share any behavioral triggers and how they typically respond to them. I will only use a well fitted, non-restrictive harness, unless the dog walks nicely on a flat, non-aversive collar. I still prefer harnesses, as I like to use longer leashes to give the dog more freedom of movement. I will not, under any circumstances, use aversive collars, and that includes invisible fences.
A typical day
A typical day: I like to provide whatever they find enriching! That can be puzzles, nosework, snuffle mats, feeder toys, kongs, toppls, chews, playtime, and/or walks! I prefer decompression walks in more open places, like parks, that way they can safely be on a harness and long line, while they get the chance to explore and sniff their hearts out! A good hiking trail is wonderful too!

About Me: I’m a vet tech student planning to specialize in behavior, and I have worked as an assistant in veterinary clinics for over 2 years now! Adopting my dog from the shelter, and needing to find a method to help heal his fear and anxiety, inspired me to fall into the world of dog behavior. There’s a lot to learn, so I’m always taking a new course or reading a book on behavior to help expand my knowledge. In the long run, I want to work with people’s pets & with rescues to really help companion animals suffering from behavioral problems. Courses, Certifications, and Self-studies: Fear Free Certified Pet Sitter & Vet Tech Student Dog CPR & First Aid with Melanie Monteiro Vet Tech Student - Semester 2 Dr. Amy Cook’s PlayWay Class: The PlayWay is a first of its kind method, that uses play to rehabilitate fearful, anxious & reactive dogs. Dr. Amy Cook’s Management for Reactive Dogs: A class to prevent dogs from going over threshold and reacting to their triggers in any environment. Control Unleashed Pattern Games: A book and course over Leslie McDevitt’s Control Unleashed protocol, for distracted, anxious, reactive, & easily aroused dogs, that have trouble with any environmental conditions.
