Safety, trust & environment
Dogs love me and I love them back! Animals can read people like a book, based on your energy and emotions. By first getting a detailed background on your dog's personality, history, triggers, and lifestyle, I will be able to counter their specific stressors and concerns through planning, redirection, affection, and communication. By bringing a positive, confident, and calm energy to the home, your pets will quickly relax to their sitter's chill vibe, and maintain a comfortable routine while you’re gone. I’m the next best thing to their mom and dad! Whenever I’m invited to my client’s home for housesitting, my girl-scout motto is to "Leave it better than you found it." not only cleaning up after myself at the end of my stay, but making it feel like I was hardly there at all. The only thing you should have to come home to is happy animals!
Information Haley M. would like to know about your pet
I will ask the following questions (and more) to make sure I can provide a customized experience appropriate for each pet: What is the best way for me to greet your dog to reduce tension? (outside, with food) What trainer commands and words work best for your pet? (no, stay, off, down) Do they have any emotional sensitivities, fears, or triggers to be aware of? (loud noises, hats, plastic bags, other dogs, other humans) Do they have separation anxiety or PTSD? (cannot be alone) Any special food allergies or dietary restrictions? (chicken) What redirection techniques are most effective for each pet? (food motivated, toys) How best to dress them for a walk? (harness, lead, collars, coat, etc.)
A typical day
I love to be outside with active dogs, including playing fetch, tug-o-war, or other interactive games. I will walk dogs and scoop poop in any weather, rain or shine (Portland native!), sun or snow! Alternatively, with your house-hippos and cuddle-bugs, I will talk to them, watch their favorite TV shows with them, or just generally provide attention and cuddles! Pets are always welcome on the couch or bed with me (if you're cool with it!) so everyone can sleep peacefully. With cats, I can help support their natural life cycle of hunt, catch, kill, eat, groom, sleep, and provide appropriate interaction for each moment in their day. Cats require a much slower, quieter approach than with dogs, and I can provide care for both in the same home, carefully adjusting my energy from one second to the next to interact with all your pets appropriately

I can basically talk to animals.
Pet care experience
I have always loved animals. As a kid, I wanted to have the power to talk to animals like Eliza Thornberry (IYKYK) and I basically got my wish! I have lived with and cared for a number of pets my entire life. I learned the basics of puppy and dog training from my family, and how to care for senior dogs as they aged. I have been pet sitting for neighbors and family members since I was a teenager, including special needs cats with diabetes and younger dogs needing training reinforcement. As I've grown into a Cat Lady, I've independently studied cat behaviorism, and understand the many differences in communication, life cycle, and behaviors of cats vs dogs and how to help cats live their best lives with their guardians. My values include integrity, honesty, health, and happiness, and I believe in supporting a high quality of life for our fur babies. Cats, dogs, and other animal friends are not just pets, they are part of the family. My skill sets include organization and attention to detail with complex feeding, walking, medication, or sleeping schedules. During our meeting, I will quickly learn the details needed to provide customized care for your family, no matter the temperament of your animals or the circumstances of your situation. I am also comfortable around exotic animals, if applicable!

Thank you Haley for taking care of our kitties! We so appreciated the pictures!

An absolute gem! Hayley was not only here for our BIG baby, but spoiled her w/all the love, cuddles, lap time, treats & attention in our absence that we would have, if we were home. Our Murphy Quinn was right at home with her in our home. We couldn't be happier w/the constant communication & plethora of pictures Hayley sent of our girl having a good ol' time w/her new bestie! Our little family has grown by +1, thankfully to our newest (& hopefully continued) addition of Hayley. She is now our go-to gal for ALL of our, walking, drop-in & dog stay/sitter needs. Thank you, Miss Hayley!

Haley has been a perfect fit for our 12 year old lab. Haley made sure she got her exercise but also allowed her to walk and smell at her pace. Haley was ever mindful of the pavement temp and ensured she was safe and did not get over heated. The constant communication, picture and videos were wonderful. Haley is now our go to dog walker and we would highly recommend her. We could not be happier.

Love love love!! Literally felt like leaving my babies with a friend I am so happy to have found her on Rover!! I literally can’t imagine letting anyone else watch my babies ever! I have NEVER turned my cameras notifications completely off because I’ve never felt comfortable with somone but this was the first trip I turned the notifications off and just got to be on the moment and with my family because I wasn’t worried at all knowing my babies where with Haley!! I got so many pictures and updates as well it was marvelous 🩷
