🐕 Experienced Dog Mom, Fenced Yard
I’m a lifelong dog mom experienced with every age from puppies to golden oldies for the past 30+ years as a paw-rent of one to two pups at a time. I've also been a volunteer with GRREAT golden rescue in Northern Virginia for 20 years. I use positive training and behavior reinforcement (sit for a treat, no grabbing), and can read dog body language well. My dog gets annual vet check-ups and is up-to-date on vaccinations including flea & tick, heart worm, lepto. I’ve had lots of experience with a variety of medical conditions, so I'm adept at spotting ear and eye issues, hot spots, lameness, etc. I'd love to host your social, behaved, and potty-trained pup (must be vaccinated and on flea/tick prevention regimen) in my home to be spoiled and have fun with my dog in our grassy yard, acting as a lookout from the sofa, and on walks!

Gwyn was absolutely wonderful with my pug, Plum! From the moment we arrived, Gwyn and her sweet golden retriever, Sailor, made Plum feel right at home. I could tell right away that Plum was in great hands—Gwyn was warm, attentive, and clearly experienced with dogs of all sizes and personalities. Throughout the day, she sent updates and photos that showed Plum having the best time playing, exploring, and snuggling. It’s always nerve-wracking leaving your pup with someone new, but Gwyn made it so easy to feel confident and relaxed. I wouldn’t hesitate to book with her again (we actually already have!)—Plum came home happy, calm, and tired from a full day of fun! Highly recommend Gwyn for anyone looking for a caring and reliable sitter.

Schedule
I mainly work from home, but may have to leave for 2-4 hours some days. My dog is fine staying home that long, if yours is too and doesn’t have separation anxiety we can discuss my schedule for specific days. My dog eats 2 meals a day, gets ample play time in the yard and goes on 1 to 2 walks a day of 1-2 miles on local paved paths in Holmes Run and local neighborhood sidewalks. We call them “sniffaries,” they’re a leisurely pace for both physical and mental activity. We see lots of other dogs on these walks!

Safety, trust & environment
Your pup will get to play and hang out with my 5-year-old well-socialized Golden in our fully fenced (4’ chain link) 1/8 acre yard and inside the house keeping me company while I work and take play breaks with the pups. My pup’s favorite yard activity is ball fetch and “chase me”! Dogs are only outside when I’m home, and come in when they want to (my Golden likes to be with me). They are NEVER left outdoors when I leave the house, and I will not let your dog off leash when not in the home or in the fenced yard. It’s a great yard if your pup is not an athletic climber or jumper escape artist. In the house, pups can get on furniture, there are dog beds in living, bedroom and office. I have wire crates if you dog prefers or needs crating (but only if they’re used to it and don’t fuss in the crate).
Pets
A typical day
We go out in the yard throughout the day for short breaks to play fetch with the Chuck-It, soccer ball, or stuffed animals my dog insists on taking outdoors with her. She also loves to chase and be chased around the yard, and wrestle if the other pup enjoys that, but adapts to any play preferences, she’s very easy-going. On our walks, we go down to Holmes Run where there is a long shaded path through the woods along the creek, and also through the neighborhood on sidewalks. If temps are over 90 I don’t take walks, the asphalt is too hot on their paws!
