Pet care experience

Life without cats is unthinkable

I’m a lifetime cat guy. I think I’ve been hooked since birth. At 10 years old cat-sitting was my very first job! Our own family cats gave me my earliest lessons on animal behavior. When I first moved to the bay I got involved volunteering with Cat Town and Full Circle Cats, and shortly thereafter began working with cats and dogs at the East Bag SPCA. In my role as a humane educator I helped teach children and adults about cat body language, cat training, and how to build relationships of trust with shy cats and kittens. I have gone on to work with lots of amazing wildlife at AZA accredited facilities, but cats will forever be my favorite.

I've known Grey for over 12 years in a professional and personal setting. Having worked for various zoos, wildlife rehabilitation, and animal shelters Grey has advanced experience caring for cats, dogs, rabbits, reptiles and many others. He cared for my dog multiple times while I was on vacation and also provided post operative care after my dog had an amputation. His attention to detail and my pet's personality allowed me to fully relax while being away, I received many photos of my dog on walks and he listened to all my weird dog mom requests. With his zoo background he is skilled in animal training and enrichment which is an extra perk not all pet sitters possess and will help enrich your pet's life and especially help if your pet has separation anxiety or any destructive behaviors. From bottle fed kittens to penguins Grey has cared for many critters, and I highly recommend you hire him next time you are in need!

Grey is an animal lover through and through! They care deeply about the creatures in their care and will always do their best to provide a safe and nourishing environment for them. They have tons of experience with all types of animals and are an excellent trainer. They are a true friend to my fur baby Georgie and scale baby Wesley!

Grey is a great cat sitter, he has watched our cat (Spike) many times and always takes great care of him. Giving him lots of attention, play time, and making sure he has food and fresh water. He always sends us photo updates which is wonderful while we are traveling. Grey is a good communicator, arrives on time, and Spike is always well cared for (which is the most important thing). I would recommend Grey to anyone looking for a caring pet sitter!

Grey has a special way with cats! They're skilled at building trust and bonds with cats of all dispositions—both my skittish gentle girl and rambunctious feisty guy got along with them so well. Their ability to create fun enrichment for cats is unmatched in my experience! And their general passion for animals means they go above and beyond for any animal in their care. I highly recommend Grey. Your cats will be in good hands!

Schedule

I worked in animal facilities for many years but now work from home as an artist. Caring for your cats helps me get the best of both worlds! I am available for weekend and weekday care. I have one cat of my own, a spayed female named Fairy! She gets along with other cats and benefits from their company when I do boarding. My apartment is a kitty playground with tons of cat trees, cat shelves, cozy nooks, and enriching toys.

Safety, trust & environment

An awesome friendship with your cat starts with a high standard of care. Being entrusted with the wellbeing of any animal is a huge responsibility - in the zoo world we say “my quality of work is their quality of life.” When caring for a client’s cat this looks like: - providing accurate, timely information on my availability, schedule, and skillset. - carefully reviewing instructions/info ahead of time, asking clarifying questions as needed. - closely following care instructions, remaining present and engaged with cats during care. - centering consent, consistency, and positive reinforcement while building a relationship with cats in my care. - providing appropriate enrichment to encourage natural behaviors. - documenting care performed and making behavior and health notes. - remaining in regular open communication with photos, updates, questions, etc. - transparent communication of concerns, questions, accidents, unexpected events, etc.

A typical day

I love to get to know a cat and their preferences so I can offer enrichment that works for them. Some cats love a feather, some cats love a snuggle, and some cats need a churu and a handful of greenies before they’ll even look at your resume! With my own cat I have a rotating calendar of enrichment, featuring things like scent enrichment, food puzzles, sensory bins, obstacle courses, new textures, and lots more. Old, young, disabled, even very shy cats benefit from enrichment! I’m literally SO excited to figure out what works for your cat! Please let me know if you’re interested in things like: - training - leash/stroller walks - grooming - personalized enrichment schedules
