Gretchen took care of our clingy and anxious dog while we got married — we wanted Lima to be well taken care of while we celebrate our special day and Gretchen delivered!! Lots of cute pictures throughout the day, we are super thankful for Gretchen for taking care of our dog

Gretchen always does a wonderful job for my boy Comet! She takes great care of him and he's always happy to have a weekend with her when we need a little help from a sitter 😊

Gretchen always does an amazing job looking after my boy! It's clear she really cares for the four-legged family member she looks after, and she always shares some wonderful pictures as well. Highly recommended!

Gretchen was absolutely wonderful! I felt safe with my dog in her care and with her staying in my home. I would hire her again in a heartbeat.

Gretchen is awesome!! I had a cancellation of care for my dog before going out of town and Gretchen immediately responded to my panicked message and accommodated a last minute reservation. I felt so comfortable leaving my standard poodle, who’s like my baby, with her. She kept me updated with pictures and was always super prompt in responding. My boy came home a happy pup!!

It truly makes my heart hurt to write this review and think about what our pups endured this weekend. Gretchen was unfortunately the worst sitter we have ever had! Prior to Gretchen arriving on Friday, May 19th we arranged a meet and greet to set expectations and make arrangements for our travel plans. Both Theodora (5 month old female puppy) and Porter (5 year old adult male) were to be fed at 5am and 5pm. We asked Gretchen to stay the night because we are still crate training/potty training the puppy of which Gretchen did not do. On Friday, May 19th she arrived at 7:01pm or two hours after she was scheduled to be here. Gretchen then left at 9:39pm on Friday, May 19th. Leaving and not returning until Saturday, May 20th at 5:20am. Equating to almost 8 hours in a crate to which we explained Theo was not able to do. At this point Gretchen had missed both AM & PM feedings within a 24 hour period. She left Saturday, May 20th at 10:45am and did not return until 5:25pm, leaving the puppy in her crate again for seven hours. Gretchen left for the evening at 10:18pm on Saturday, May 20th and did not return until 6:40am on Sunday, May 21st, leaving the puppy in her crate for almost nine hours. I personally reached out to Gretchen at 6:13am this morning to ask why she had missed the feeding and did not get a reply until 6:57am, her excuse for not answering my calls changed a few times, one her phone was dead and the other she said she didn’t recognize the number, this would be the number provided through rover to make contact with each other. I would think she would recognize that being on the platform for a while. Gretchen left our house today Sunday, May 21st at 12:38pm leaving our back door completely open, our rear sliding door unlocked, and our basement door unlocked. After reviewing Ring camera footage, we saw that the house was not locked up all weekend. Thank god we live in a good neighborhood. When I arrived home today at 3:13pm I found a large amount of urine in the basement covered by Theo’s dog bed. Both the floor and the dog bed were soaked in urine, not from one accident but from multiple, if not this entire weekend. I also found a blanket that had been in Theo’s cage soaked in urine and thrown into the dryer, unwashed! At this point my wife and I three way called Gretchen to ask her what happened this weekend. When asked why she did not meet the feeding times, and why she was not at the house when asked to be, or why the puppy was left for extended periods of time in her cage. Gretchen told us that she overslept, that her phone died, and that she got lost on the way to our house after being here on five other separate occasions this weekend. She told us she couldn’t spend the night Friday because our older dog kept her awake. She proceeded to lie and tell us that he was poorly trained and without adequate sleep she would not be able to perform the requested duties, which is why she left at 9:39pm Friday evening. Gretchen never addressed leaving the puppy in the cage for extended periods of time, she never addressed the urine soaked floor or dog bed and had no explanation for leaving the house unsecured all weekend. Unfortunately after speaking to Gretchen today we were unable to resolve our issues. She was unapologetic and continued to make excuses for her poor performance. Our puppy is traumatized and refuses to go downstairs or to her cage, which was once a safe place for her. I feel we have taken several steps back in training. We would not recommend Gretchen for any services and have filed a formal complaint with Rover.
