Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine because I already lead an active, structured lifestyle. I make time each day for walks, outdoor activity, and maintaining a consistent schedule, which allows me to easily accommodate feeding times, potty breaks, exercise, playtime, and check-ins. I’m flexible throughout the week and can adjust my schedule to meet each pet’s specific needs, whether that means early morning walks, midday visits, evening care, or extra attention for pets who need more companionship and activity. I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, so caring for them is something I look forward to rather than simply fitting into my schedule.

Safety, trust & environment
I tailor my care to each pet’s unique routine, personality, and needs, whether I’m in my home or caring for them in a client’s home. My goal is to keep their environment as comfortable, consistent, and stress-free as possible. In a client’s home, I follow all provided instructions closely—this includes feeding schedules, walks, potty breaks, playtime, medications (if needed), and any specific routines your pet is used to. I also make sure your home is respected and kept clean while you’re away. I provide regular updates, photos, and communication so you always know how your pet is doing. When caring for pets in my home, I create a safe, clean, and pet-friendly environment with plenty of supervision, attention, and affection. I make sure pets get the right balance of exercise, play, and rest based on their energy level and temperament. I’m attentive to behavior, comfort, and any changes so I can respond quickly if needed. No matter the setting, I focus on building trust, maintaining consistency, and making sure every pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for.

Information Gretchen C. would like to know about your pet
Before caring for any pet, I like to gather as much information as possible to make sure I provide the best, most comfortable experience for them. Important things I like to know ahead of time include your pet’s daily routine, feeding schedule, exercise needs, and any specific habits or preferences they have. I also ask about temperament (how they interact with people or other animals), energy level, and any triggers or anxieties they may have so I can approach them in a way that makes them feel safe. It’s especially important to know if your pet has any medical conditions, allergies, or requires medication—along with clear instructions on dosage, timing, and how it should be administered. Additionally, I like to understand any training commands they know, house rules (such as furniture access or crate use), and emergency contact information, including your preferred veterinarian. The more I know upfront, the better I can keep your pet’s routine consistent and ensure they feel comfortable, secure, and well cared for while you’re away.
A typical day
I love keeping pets engaged, happy, and active, so I tailor fun activities based on each pet’s personality and energy level. For more active pets, I enjoy long walks, playing fetch, tug-of-war, and interactive games that keep them both physically and mentally stimulated. If your pet enjoys social time, I also make sure they get plenty of attention, play, and positive interaction. For pets that prefer a calmer pace, I focus on gentle walks, enrichment toys, and lots of affection, making sure they feel relaxed and comfortable. I also like incorporating basic training reinforcement (like sit, stay, and leash manners) into playtime in a fun and rewarding way. No matter the activity, my goal is to make sure your pet feels safe, entertained, and loved while keeping their routine as consistent and enjoyable as possible.

Pet care experience
I’m a dedicated animal lover who relocated to Springfield, MO about a year ago, and I’m excited to continue caring for pets in my new community. I previously volunteered with the SPCA, where I gained hands-on experience working with animals of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. I pride myself on being responsible, communicative, and positive—qualities that help both pets and their owners feel comfortable and confident in my care. Whether your pet is high-energy and loves to play or prefers a slower pace, I’m happy to meet their needs. I’m very active and enjoy engaging pets with activities like fetch, walks, and interactive play. Having grown up with multiple dogs and cats, I’m very familiar with daily care routines and animal behavior. I also have experience reinforcing basic commands such as sit, stay, wait, leash walking, roll over, and fetch. In addition, I’m comfortable with bathing and providing routine grooming care based on your pet’s specific needs and breed requirements. Building trust is extremely important to me. I use clear communication and patience to create a strong bond with every pet, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and cared for—just like they would with family.
Reviews

The best sitter ever!!! I was in a rush to find day care at the last minute and i had to work at 8am the next day. Thank God I found this amazing woman!! This was my first time on rover and my first time getting a doggie day care. She not only stayed in contact with me through the day through phone but also sent pictures and videos to check in with me while I was at work. She was so sweet and great with my Cashmere. I truly appreciate Gretchen and I highly recommend her!! :)
