Dog Handler, Not Just A Dog Walker

Hello! Happy to meet you and I look forward to meeting your dog (and/or cat!) I have extensive experience raising and training Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever puppies and young adult dogs for canine service assistant work. I appreciate that all dog handling is training so am conscientious in making sure to consistently reinforce desired animal behaviors and prevent repeated undesirable behavior. Your dog will be loved and also learn from me as a bonus to our time spent together. In addition to years of dog experience, I've been a cat owner for half my life. Since my very senior cat passed away a couple years ago I've been fostering cats and kittens for MEOW Cat Rescue. Without a dog or cat of my own right now it's the perfect time to help you with your canines and felines. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! Best, Greta

Doggy Day Care • Oct 22, 2024

Greta spent an entire day with my pup while I attended a daylong meeting followed by a business dinner. She was flexible with the start time, which I greatly appreciated. She was patient and reassuring as my pup got accustomed to sharing space with her cats. She took great care and was very attentive to my pup and my needs. Wonderful experience!

Greta was wonderful and stepped in to take care of my cat last minute, when our initial hire ghosted us. She is responsive and communicative. Henry was super appreciative of her visit, as are we. Would definitely trust Greta to take care of Henry in the future.

A typical day

I have a fully fenced yard, but also know miles and miles of suburban walks near my home and yours. For doggy day care I am a hiker and your dog can come with me if they are well behaved and you would like that experience for them. Dogs are required to be on leash in Washington state parks and our national forests so this would be on leash time. Dogs I know well and who have excellent recall I would enjoy taking to the off-leash area at Marymoor Park if you and your dog would like that. I will cuddle with your cats or leave them alone as they prefer.

My experience is predominantly with large breeds which I find willing, often highly food motivated and easy to train. Please inform me of any history of dog or people aggression. For instance, if they try to chase bunnies and cats, I'd like to know that! I would want to hear about challenges you have with your dog so I might come equipped to address appropriately. Lastly, I need confirmation that the dog is crate trained before providing doggy day care or boarding. If you have a puppy and need guidance in crate training or anything else I can probably help. While my experience is greater with large breeds I get along just fine with small breeds as well and welcome yours!
