Information Greg I. would like to know about your pet

We would like to know if dogs are house broken, crate trained, rabies and distemper vaccinated, aggressive towards specific people or animals, possessive of food or toys, on medications, treat/toy/praise motivated, sensitive to certain temperatures/weather conditions, fearful of specific things, and socialized to city life. We also would like to know your dog’s sleep and dietary preferences, its primary and urgent care vets, its emergency contact, its favorite toys, its personality, and its on/off leash tendencies. In addition, we would like to know its background, to best handle, pet, and interact with it. Furthermore, we would like to know what verbal commands are used in your household, whether your dog prefers to play alone or in a group, and if it might chew on our furniture, shoes, clothing, and more. We are comfortable with all breeds, and we have experience with special-needs dogs. (Note: When we are expected to administer oral medications or provide additional care, such as a cone, protective clothing, a diaper, etc., a gratuity is greatly appreciated.) Thanks for visiting our profile! Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions! We look forward to hearing from you!

A typical day

We have a fenced-in yard for outdoor play, and a gated basement area with rubber flooring for indoor play. Your dog will typically remain on our property unless we go for walks. We have easy access to Theodore Wirth and Victory Memorial parkways and the Greenway system for taking walks. We also enjoy visiting the numerous dog parks in the metro area, but we will not transport your pup unless you permit us to do it. In addition, we have various toys for chew, fetch, tug, and scent games, and we ask owners to bring their dog’s favorite toy.

The love of home away from home

Pet care experience

We are huge animal lovers who would love to care for your pup while you’re away. We will make sure they get the love and attention they need so they don’t feel lonely and the time passes quickly for them until they are back home. We enjoy dog friendly parks and establishments and taking walks on the Minneapolis trail system. We also enjoy the comforts of our home, and our pets do too. We have a fenced-in yard for outdoor play (6’ privacy in backyard, 4’ in front yard), and a fenced area with rubber flooring in the basement for indoor play. In addition, for your convenience, we have kennels and crates of various sizes if you prefer to leave your pup’s crate at home. Furthermore, we aim to respect your wishes and care for your dog in a manner that is similar to its normal routine. Your doggie will get lots of pets, snuggles, and play time in our home. We also have experience with providing a structured routine if that is your preference. Greg has experience in scent work and obedience training, and he does Rover full-time. We want to make sure you and your pup are comfortable with its stay. Our previous dog, Lincoln, unfortunately passed away. He was a well-socialized and intelligent Doberman Pinscher that had a heart of gold. We miss him greatly! Greg was his handler for search and rescue (SAR). Lincoln earned AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) and Area Search/SAR certifications, as well as multiple AKC obedience diplomas. Through this experience, Greg and Lincoln built an unbreakable bond that has served Greg well on learning to communicate with dogs and train them effectively. Our current dog, Maple, is also a Doberman Pinscher. She is an intelligent, energetic, inquisitive, and social pup. Underneath her stoic appearance is a gentle spirit and a kind temperament. She has graduated multiple levels of AKC obedience training, and has earned her AKC CGC and SAR Cadaver Recovery certifications. Lastly, our cat, Delia, is primarily independent and typically keeps to herself. She’s familiar with living with dogs and adapts well to guests. She usually resides in an area of the home that only she has access to when pups visit. SCHEDULING & SERVICE INFORMATION: We schedule appointment times instead of time windows for drop-offs and pick-ups. This ensures safer transition when dogs from different households are picked up and dropped off. We prefer pups to meet in a controlled setting, to increase the likelihood of a successful introduction and bond. We also attempt to be mindful of Q&A time with owners at drop-off and pick-up. -Boarding: 6a-6p Monday-Friday, 6a-4p Saturday-Sunday, based on availability and appointment. Boarding is 24 hours per day maximum. For example, the time of day that you pick up your pup is no later than when you dropped it off. A fee may be incurred for altered bookings and additional time needed. Prior to booking, clients may schedule a pick-up appointment later than our closing time for an additional fee, based on availability. We do not offer drop-off appointments after closing, because it provides dogs in our care with time to settle into the environment, and/or to get exercise prior to bedtime. Reducing drop-offs in the evening also ensures that the pups in our care rest better overnight. -Daycare: 6a-6p Monday-Friday, based on availability and appointment. Prior to booking, clients may schedule a pick-up appointment later than our closing time for an additional fee, based on availability. A fee may be incurred for altered bookings and additional time needed. -Meet-and-Greets: Monday-Friday, based on availability and appointment. Before scheduling a meet-and-greet, we prefer clients to be seeking recurring daycare (4 days per month minimum) or boarding (3 nights per booking minimum). However, we do not require a meet-and-greet prior to bookings. Although, we prefer clients to complete their Rover profiles and a questionnaire, so that we can determine if we are a good fit. -Location: Minneapolis, near North Memorial Hospital -Automatically Recurring Daycare: For new clients, we prefer to schedule a one-time booking to start, to assess whether we are a good fit for future recurring bookings. (Note: We do not consider a meet-and-greet as a substitute for the one-time booking, because some pups adjust to new environments differently without their owner present.) For returning clients, we book dates on a month-to-month basis, based on availability. For example, we send you our availability for the upcoming month based on your initial booking request.

Our adolescent pup has some complexities and we were anxious about leaving her with a new sitter but Greg accepted the challenge, listened to our concerns, and gave us confidence she was in good hands. Indeed, she was, and we’ll rest easy the next time our dog is in Greg and Hope’s care!
