The Best Care, Paws Down

When your pets stay with me, they get my full attention. I'm currently freelancing and work mostly from home, besides the occasional meeting, in-person project, or event. I prefer to host one pet family at a time, so that I can give each client and crew my utmost effort, compassion, and care. I want to make sure your family members are thriving and living their best lives while you're away! I've cared for cats, dogs, and even turtles since I was a kid. I'm an avid foster with the Louisiana SPCA and have volunteered with animal welfare organizations across the state since I was a teenager. I've cared for almost every kind of dog: the chill seniors, the anxious rescues, and the gregarious goofballs. I enjoy exploring the colorful neighborhoods of New Orleans with a companion by my side. I also love teaching and learning new tricks, and I'm always down for an impromptu playtime. In my free time, I'm a passionate circus artist, so I'm usually juggling tennis balls when I'm not throwing them for fetch. I'm a lifelong New Orleanian, so I know all the coolest (literally) spots in town. Whether that's a long sniffy and shaded walk in City Park, or a breezy stroll along the lakefront, I make sure all of our adventures are catered to your pet's comfort and schedule.

The dogs love Grady and we love him. Always takes care of the house and the pups the way we would take care of them. We feel lucky to have him be our pet sitter!

Grady is simply the best! Our dogs love him and he gives them so much love, walking and fun while we are gone, I’d be surprised if they were happy we are home. He made our trip a lot less stressful by knowing he was taking such good care of them.

Schedule

I'm currently freelancing, so I have ample free time to care for pets of all kinds. With enough notice, I can generally be available any day of the week at any time. I'm able to work mostly remotely, and I try to structure my days around hanging with your pets at your house or at mine. When I do have to leave pets alone, I make sure they're cozy with fresh food and water, toys, and plenty of napping space. I ask lots of questions during our meet-and-greets and our communications to ensure we're aligned on your family's needs schedule-wise, and so that I understand your pet's normal daily routine. I try to keep my calendar current, so you can see when I'm available and when I'm not, but reach out anytime!

Safety, trust & environment

Your pet stays with me whether in your home or at my own. My flexible schedule allows me to hang out and check in often. I have reliable transportation that allows me to fetch the essentials and the luxuries, like treats. My home has a fenced yard, so there's plenty of space for secure outdoor activities. I also have a pool, so when it's hot, there's a place to cool off. If I'm boarding your pet, I'll follow your lead when it comes to swimming. If your dog loves water, we can swim together, and if they're not a swimmer, I'll make sure we stay dry. I'm always happy to share more details about our yard during our conversations or a meet-and-greet. On walks, we use the leashes and gear you provide and that your pet is familiar with. Alternatively, I can also bring my own leashes if you'd like. I follow your instructions around feeding, routine, and medications (I appreciate having your instructions written down). I refer to your preferred vet and pet hospital information. As a local New Orleanian, I'm resourceful and knowledgeable about the multitude of pet resources in town that help your pet stay healthy and happy, from clinics that offer free vaccines to local restaurants that are pup-friendly.

Pets

A typical day

I plan my days around our chaotic Louisiana weather and our festive local events. I also match the energy of the pets I'm caring for, whether that's spending a day adventuring around town or snuggling at home. I'm adaptable and always ready to pivot to take a day from average to extraordinary for those I'm caring for and their families. In the morning, we start with a neighborhood walk before the heat kicks in. Then, we have breakfast on your pet's regular schedule. Midday leaves plenty of time for playtime, inside or outside, practicing new tricks and learning new things, and supervised napping. I take napping very seriously. The evening brings a second walk, dinner, and wind-down time on one of the many dog beds stationed around the house. If allowed, I love finding ways to add joy to our days together, whether that's a trip to a dog-friendly space or a pup cup. I'm happy to communicate about our days together however you like! Whether you like receiving lots of photos and Rover Card updates, or prefer a more minimalist approach, I'm happy to oblige. I think I'm a pretty good pet photographer, and I appreciate the opportunity to practice my skills. I love to match the energy of the dogs and cats I’m caring for. Whether that means jogging through the park or hanging on the sofa, their joy sets my vibe. We’ll explore all the scents and spend lots of quality time together.

The most important thing to know is that I share my home with a 12-year-old cat, so if you're boarding your dog or cat with me, I need to know how they actually do with cats. If they've lived with one or met one up close, I'd love to know how it went. If your pet isn't compatible with my cat Ajax, I must defer to my feline overlord Ajax. He has seniority. However, I am happy to offer housesitting as an alternative. Beyond that, the more I know, the better their stay. I'll also make sure to ask lots of questions during our meet-and-greet or talks. I'd also like to know many other things like their feeding routine, any allergies, medications, and how they take them, how they handle thunderstorms, fireworks (we'll get plenty of both here in New Orleans), how they cope with any other fears, whether they're an escape artist or food thief, how they do on their own, and where they like to sleep. And please tell me the fun stuff too. Like their favorite games, any nicknames, the spot they like scratched best, and the funny little rituals they have. Those details help turn a regular stay into a vacation. Whew, that was a lot. But don't worry we can talk more in person or electronically. For new boarding clients, I prefer to start with a meet and greet, so we can make sure it's a great fit for everyone. Ajax gets a vote. I can't wait to meet your pet family! :)
