Safety, trust & environment

In general, when I care for pets, I aim to adhere to the following: - plenty of access to water - fed according to their pet guardian's instructions - check to make sure there NO hazards around (removing any small choking hazards, ensure rooms are closed off, etc.) - all the treats (only if allowed & safe!) - taken out for leashed walks/bathroom breaks as often as instructed - Stay aware of our surroundings while on walks for safety regarding other people, pets, vehicles, etc. While taking care of pets in client homes, I ensure: - All instructions are followed regarding entry/exit (keys go back into lockboxes, returned to owner however we arranged/agreed upon, doors are locked after I leave, etc.) - I treat their home with respect and privacy - Clean up any pet messes that may have occurred under my supervision - Return all pet items (leashes, harnesses, toys, etc.) - Send picture & text updates with details of their pet's care during my visit

Information Grace D. would like to know about your pet

As a neurodiverse person who struggles with anxiety and PTSD, I don’t do well with dogs that are extremely high energy and bark a lot, as it can cause me to experience sensory overwhelm. It’s not that I’m afraid of these types of dogs, super high energy levels for long periods of time is difficult for me to manage. I also require that my clients have their dog’s be leash trained fairly well. I’ve struggled with dogs in the past who are very leash-reactive, specifically regarding issues with dogs pulling so hard on their leashes that they nearly drag me and cause wrist/shoulder injuries, and I’m a strong dog walker!) - ultimately it becomes not just a safety issue for me, but also for other dogs & people outside in public too.

A typical day

A typical day looks like waking up, feeding breakfast to the pets, going on a walk, coming back and starting some work for the day. A midday break involves some playtime, another short walk and then back to some more afternoon work. Evening will be a nice long walk with some playtime, dinner and then relaxing for the rest of the evening, complete with one more short walk before bedtime.

Big-hearted animal lover 💖

Pet care experience

Growing up with cats, dogs and birds, I've had some wonderful memories and experiences caring for animals. I had 2 large dogs growing up, and several cats. As an adult, I cared for my family's cat Lyra until she crossed the rainbow bridge at age 16.5. I've also fostered cats in the past. In my time caring for animals, I've learned how to administer medications, take care of senior animals, how to stay on top of their cleanliness and hygiene, picking up after them on walks & cleaning litter boxes, as well as keep up with their feeding schedules. When I used to work in a corporate office, it was my responsibility to lead & coordinate office events. Some of the events I am proud to have organized included: - Educational seminar series about service dogs in partnership with MidAmerica Service Dogs Foundation - Pet Adoption event in partnership with South Suburban Humane Society and PetFinder (which led to several doggos finding their forever homes!) - Monthly in-office therapy dog sessions with Canine Therapy Corps As I've transitioned out of office work, I'd love to continue with my passion of caring for animals. I hope that we'll get in touch soon about your beloved pet's care. Please note: I do not have a car and cannot accommodate pick ups/drop offs, and I use public transportation & rideshares to commute.

Grace was wonderful with our dogs and helped them feel completely at ease while we were away. She stuck closely to their routines, communicated consistently, and clearly cared about making them comfortable and happy. She was also incredibly kind, respectful of our home, and an excellent house guest. We would absolutely hire her again!

Grace did an excellent job taking care of our cat and house while we were away! She was great at communicating, sent us cute pictures, and was super flexible and helpful when our flight was canceled- even offered to stay an extra night! So nice to know our cat was in good hands while we were stuck far away. We came home to a clean home and a happy cat. Highly recommend!
