Disponibilidad

I'm available at all hours and days. Weekday middays are busy, as you can expect, but I could probably fit your pup in! Proximity to WMATA Metrorail and Capital Bikeshare stations is my biggest request!

I have extensive experience working with dogs that exhibit triggers or sociability challenges. I'm good friends with several Pitties who love really hard and have too much excited energy to meet everyone. There are Andouille, Ginger Sprice, Hudson, Juno, and Lou. They all give great kisses but jump up a bit too much. :-)

Información que a Gordon C. le gustaría saber sobre tu mascota

I would like to know if your dog has specific triggers or behavior quirks that I should adapt to when I'm outside with them for pee breaks or walks. Please also bring daily play and care items — a toy or bone they really like and a brush if they shed a lot, for example. I keep a small supply of dog treats and poop bags, but I'd appreciate you bringing some extra bags and treats they like. Do they have food allergies? Do they have special medical notes, like medication to get at specific times? Can I use peanut butter to incentivize them taking a pill?

Un día normal

I balance dog walks and training sessions with my role as the leader of the local nonprofit, Friends of the Metropolitan Branch Trail. A typical weekday begins with one or two morning walks, followed by breakfast and a few hours of nonprofit work. Around 10:30, I head out for my mid-day and afternoon walks. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the busiest days. I'll have a few weekend walks and mix that with local civic events with my nonprofit.

D.C. Dog Care by Gordon Chaffin

Experiencia en el cuidado de mascotas

* I'm an insured and bonded dog professional offering high-enrichment dog walks in Washington, D.C. * I work with one dog at a time: exercise, food and medication administration, training, engaging play, and physical recovery exercises. * I relish every aggressive kiss from a Pittie, every skeptical growl from a new Beagle friend, and each request for fetch from a high-energy mutt. I have extensive experience with dogs of all ages and a wide range of behavioral and medical sensitivities. I've worked with extra-large dogs, such as Mastiffs, and working dog breeds, like Australian Shepherds, as well as a puppy dachshund named Tillie, who prefers miniature tennis balls. I'm patient and flexible. * 30 or 60 minutes for a dog walk? In most cases, I encourage folks to book 60-minute slots. The hour means a longer walk and additional tasks: I can focus on each dog's behavioral needs, reinforce training goals, take a break for water, feed them, administer medication, and coordinate enrichment activities like treat hide-and-seek. For the 60-minute appointment, I like to let dogs choose which direction they walk and let them sniff as long as they want, as long as they're not eating something or trying to bark at their neighborhood nemesis. * The 30-minute slot works best for the basics: an easy dog with straight As on the behavioral report card, who needs a short jaunt around the neighborhood.

Gordon is patient with our large, excitable Pittie and very reliable! The only person outside of our family that our dog gets excited to see!

Gordon was phenomenal with Gus! Gordon was attentive with my dogs’ needs, was big on communication with me, and send many pictures of my dog! Will be booking again.
