I LOVE Senior Dogs

I've had and loved dogs my whole life, and am currently an approved and active foster dog mom for multiple rescues including a senior dog rescue. Senior dogs are where my heart is, I feel the most important part of being their guardian is to make their golden years as wonderful and comfortable as they can be. So I'm super experienced at all sorts of special needs. I've had deaf dogs and blind dogs, dogs with mobility issues and even cognitive issues so I'm comfortable administering meds, including eye drops, injections and fluids. But I'm also very happy to just hang out with your little old man or lady and make sure there is no disruption in their routine - because an old dog needs their routine! Of course if you and your dog prefer, they are welcome to stay with us instead as long as they get along well with others. (Because I do have senior dogs of my own, I require that your dog be relatively calm and kind to other dogs, and definitely potty or pee pad trained.) So please reach out and we can setup a meet & greet - I can't wait to meet your dog! PS: If you live nearby I can also do drop-ins when you've got a long day or have to work late.

Glenda was so sweet and caring - I could tell how much she loved animals by how she loved on our dog while we were away. Our pup was definitely spoiled! I felt so comfortable leaving her in Glenda's care. Can't recommend her enough!

Absolutely amazing experience! Glenda was really knowledgeable about older dogs and her pups did so good with mine. Definitely want to rebook!

Glenda is an excellent person to watch your dogs! She is very experienced, communicative, responsive, and was flexible to my senior dog’s needs. She is especially experienced with senior dogs and this is a lifesaver!

Glenda was an amazing caretaker of our home and our two dogs. She sent us regular pictures and videos and kept us updated on a regular basis. We were very far away and felt very secure that they were being very well taken care of. Well, our house was not difficult to care for, every house has various tasks and. And things to watch out for. We came home to our house and beautiful condition – she had done more cleaning than we expected, and our dogs had obviously been well taken care of. We recommend Glenda highly.

Glenda and I host foster dogs for the same rescue. We have shared care of a few fosters over the past few years, and I always have the utmost trust and faith in Glenda's ability to care for any dog. She has YEARS and years of experience with dog-sitting and fostering, including many dogs with special medical and/or behavioral needs. She is organized, capable, dependable, responsible, and communication is easy. She will closely follow any instructions for care. Your pet will be happy and healthy when you return.

We were so glad to have Glenda watch our little grumpy guy! She was great with him and dealt with his sass while staying at our house and making sure he wasn’t lonely

Schedule

I am a software consultant working entirely remotely with semi flexible hours. Other than that, and running errands, I do volunteer work two to four times a week for an animal charity in Denver. The times for those activities vary of course, and 1 or 2 dogs usually get to go along! So typically the longest I am away from the house and the dogs on any given day is 4-5 hours at most. The rest of the time I'm usually hanging out at home with the pups! On a daily basis around here the doggos pretty much run the show! Breakfast is about 7am, unless they decide to sleep in ('til 7:15 - woot!) and dinner is at 7pm, or else! In between is a lot of squirrel chasing and general silliness, interrupted by nice long naps - for them not for me, wouldn't that be nice..

Safety, trust & environment

Because I foster and adopt senior dogs, daily activities revolve almost entirely around their needs. If one of them must have meds or meals at a certain time, other things are planned around that. At your house it's all up to your pups - unless they let you think that you're in charge, in which case you just let me know how things should go. If they need regular walks, or a daily car ride, or even if they're addicted to the puppaccinos at the drive-through, we can make that happen! I understand how much a dog is a creature of habit, so while I want them to have fun, I also like things to seem as normal as possible so they don't stress out.

Pets

A typical day

Between my dogs and the fosters your pup will make lots of new friends while they're here, and they'll have all the outside play time they want with access to the doggie door all day! When they're inside there are puzzle toys to challenge us and healthy snacks for all. They'll probably have more fun on their "vacation" here than you do on yours, complete with plenty of vacation pics we will happily text you on a daily basis!

Because some of my own dogs are seniors and small, yours should be used to being around other dogs and not overly excitable; I'm sorry I can't take any aggressive types (with the possible exception of a slightly spicy Chihuahua, those I know how to handle). I do require that they are potty trained, but that can include pee pad trained. And if you have a senior or a dog with any specific medical or special needs, just let me know. I am experienced in all manner of minor medical care for dogs, including injections, administering fluids, and eye drops, etc., I've also taken care of dogs that are difficult to pill, and even my friend's partially paralyzed pug. And because I travel a lot myself, I know the level of concern that comes with leaving your sweet senior soulmate in someone else's care, so I am happy to provide daily updates and do not mind if you need to check in OFTEN for your own peace of mind.
