Pet care experience

About this sitter: I have worked as a veterinary technician, receptionist, kennel attendant across North Carolina. I started working as a groomer's assistant in college & I was hooked. I've had jobs at small single doctor veterinary practices, up to a staff of 9 full time veterinarians, in corporate hospitals with 1000's of locations all over the US, as well as, specialty & emergency clinics. I even spent 2 years at NCSU Vet School in Raleigh working with over 30 different species, all the way from typical small and large animals to red wolves and other rare exotics like tree shrews, lol. So I certainly have the ability to meet all your pets needs. Over the years, I've had experience with dogs, cats, rodents of all kinds, reptiles, snakes, frogs, fish, exotic birds, horses, llamas, you name it. With all my years in the field, I've handled everything from seconds old newborns delivered by c-section to geriatric pets well over 20 years old and everything in between. I will take care of anything they need while you are away. I can administer medications of all types. I'm familiar with many medical conditions & can handle any challenge. So I can walk the dog, scoop the cat litter, feed your snake, and even give your horse hay. Petsitting is my full time job so you and your pets are my top priority. I'll provide daily exercise, potty breaks, puppy playtimes & clean up, meals, anything you might need for your pet whether you are working, on vacation or even just headed out for the evening. I currently provide care for the dogs of several busy professionals including teachers, nurses, pharmacist, even veterinarians. I'll let you know how their day goes and send you pictures too. If you're going out of town, I'll ensure that both you and your pet have a wonderful vacation. When clients come home, their pets are exhausted from all the fun we've had while they were away. I can't wait to meet you and your pet. Why I love dog sitting I have been taking care of pets since I was 12. It started with neighbors, then grew to friends, co-workers, my veterinarian employers, and later veterinary clients who didn't want to board their pets. And word of mouth spread until even when I wasn't working a kennel shift on the weekends, I was walking dogs. In 2016, I decided that I was going to make this a full time job, setting my own schedule, and getting to walk and play with pets all of the time sounded pretty good after some of the the rude things I did at the vet office. My dog Baby, was the center of my world. I met her when I was 18, leaving for college. She was a stray and had Parvo, barely pulling through. But she was so sweet and resilient, I just knew that we were destined to be together. Later, she was in my wedding and even went on my honeymoon! Losing her in 2010 after a long battle with cancer was such a huge loss that we still don't have a dog. She loved her cats, so we had 3, and then we moved to a new house with a feral cat colony and before we knew it, there were 7, including 4 sisters. So now I live vicariously through my clients lol. Playing and running with their dogs gives me a lot of joy. That's why I do this, even though I'm literally allergic to all of them! Because it makes me so very happy.

Ginny was great with our diabetic cat! He’s cautious of new people giving him his injections and Ginny was so kind and patient. By the end of our trip he was completely trusting of her! She was also amazing with communicating everything going on while we were gone and sending picture updates, which I so appreciate.

I can ensure that you feel comfortable with the level of care provided. And having worked in veterinary hospitals I have professional knowledge and handling ability to ensure they are safe and secure each time out. We'll be in your home so they will be used to their own environment. We simply follow your normal routine to ensure all of your pets needs are met. And that both of you are comfortable. I send pictures and updates each visit as well to help with further piece of mind.

Information Ginny R. would like to know about your pet

I love all breeds, great and small. I always prefer to set-up a meet and greet to see what the dog's or cat's personality is like and discuss what specific needs they may have. We can go through your normal routine so I can see what you would do if you were home with your pet. And because I've worked as a vet tech, I have met 1000's of pets over the years. I have been called a cat whisperer. I am really good with shy, or nervous friends. I've learned to go slow & allow them to come to me. I'll be ready to give them their favorite treats and food to win them over.

A typical day

We can run in the backyard, walk around the neighborhood, or even head down to the nearest park. I pick up 100# Newfoundland up from Doggie Daycare several days a week. I've even taken dogs swimming and to the beach, so for a little extra gas money, we can go for Parkway rides and trail walks. I am there to ensure that they have a great vacation too. Your dog's sleeping arrangement In your bed, lol. Or wherever your dog normally sleeps. That's the beauty of petsitting in your home. It allows for them to follow their normal routine, even if you're away. Time I'll spend with your dog Everything I do is customized to them. So whether you want two, three, or four visits, we'll work all that out. I will devote time to cover whatever your pet needs each visit, but we will follow your routine so I tailor to your pets specifics. If your Labrador wants to play fetch, or walk around the neighborhood but your Bichon like to be brushed and sit in your lap, then that's what we do. Over the years, I have gone to see dogs as little as once a day to feed if they had a dog door and ate in the morning, up to four times per day so my junior and senior pets can walk and go out every few hours. I prefer to sleep at home on my Tempur-pedic, but other than actually sleeping in your bed with them, I am willing to acomodate whatever your else they require. Extra house-sitting services Sure, I'd be happy to water plants, switch lights and open curtains, take trash to the curb, bring in the mail. I can even arrange house cleaning services during or at a separate time. I have lots of bathing and grooming experience so I'm happy to bathe, trim nails, clean ears, and even express glands for tolerant dogs.
