At this time I'm not able to provide care services in my home. For care in your home, I'm very careful not to leave doors or gates unsecured, and I understand that many dogs are protective of their homes, so I respect their space. I do ask that you be honest about any toy- or food-guarding tendencies your dog may have, as well as any other situations in which your dog might be unhappy or uncomfortable. If you'd like me to walk your dog, he or she should ideally be accustomed to a leash, using either a flat collar, a harness, or a Gentle Leader/Halti. If possible, I'd also like them to be reasonably socialized around people and other dogs, but if these are things we need to work on, we can do that, too. 🙂
Information Gina L. would like to know about your pet
Toy- or food-guarding behaviors; spay/neuter status; special food, medicine, or handling needs; if dog is overly reactive toward strangers in the home; if dog has shown unfriendly behavior toward people or other dogs (be specific about circumstances where possible); training status (none, minimal, some, a lot); leash manners; any injuries or illness being monitored; important contact information in the event of an emergency. Note about dog first aid and/or CPR: I'm comfortable performing basic and immediate first aid, but if I'm in any doubt whatsoever about your dog's health, we'll go straight to your veterinarian or to an emergency vet.
A typical day
Frisbee; fetch; basic on- and off-leash training (for additional fee, where appropriate); seek and find (for toys/food); walks on footpaths where available; whatever else the dog seems to enjoy, as it depends on the dog what he or she considers fun.

Pet care experience
I'm all about German Shepherds and other big, furry dogs! And I'm also a Victoria Stilwell Academy Certified Dog Trainer, which means that I will only ever use only kind, positive, force-free methods when I'm working with your dogs. Important Note: it's my policy always to have a daytime Meet & Greet with you and your dog prior to booking any new pets, so please be ready to meet me outside in front of your house so we can all go for a walk in your neighborhood first. Thanks for your help! (And now on to the fun stuff...) I've had dogs almost my entire life: a rescued Norwegian Elkhound, a Border Collie/Lab mix, a German Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute mix, and two rescued purebred German Shepherds. Both of my Shepherds had behavioral issues that we had to work through, and the end result was that my boy became a therapy dog and all three of us spent 4 years travelling together internationally. Everywhere we went, they got complimented on their good behavior, to which I replied, "Thanks! They didn't come this way, though." I worked with both trainers and animal behaviorists to help my dogs, and I have an excellent working knowledge of positive training techniques that helped both my shy, nervous dog and my enthusiastic, stubborn dog to become international travellers. More recently I worked with a Jack Russell Terrier whose owner had moved with him from a farm into a retirement community. He was dog-aggressive and had never been either trained or socialized, but by using positive training methods, I was able to turn him around. He would never have been best buds with other dogs, but when we were walking, he learned to walk past them or sit quietly when they came near instead of trying to attack them. As regards pet care, all of our dogs have lived to advanced old ages, and as a result, I have extensive experience caring for old dogs with mobility issues. **Please note that I travel out of town frequently, but I do my best to update my Rover calendar as soon as I know when I'm not available.**
Reviews
Gina provided exceptional service. She is an exceptional person and has a deep connection and understanding of dogs. My dog loved her visits and walks. She was outstanding!

Gina was awesome. Her knowledge of dogs and training is amazing. She loved my dog and he loved her. She will be my go to anytime I need help with Loki.

Gina walked our dog Barley for an hour every day while we were at work. She sent plenty of pictures and videos. We could tell Barley enjoyed his walks because when we got home from work, he was calm and not antsy. We would highly recommend Gina and looking forward to working with her again in the future!

Gina was great with Karma! Gina showed within 60 seconds of our agreed time. :-). Both Karma and myself look forward to future visits. I
