I am currently working overnight as a lead ER veterinary nurse at IndyVet 3-4 nights a week. I do also have classes a few times a week during the day. My current schedule leaves my days pretty open to spend all of my free time with other fur babies.

Information Gillian G. would like to know about your pet
Before intake, I find it important to learn all that I can about your pet's personality, health, and preferences. Some animals handle new environments differently, and I would like to make sure that I am facilitating a smooth transition and stay for your pet. In order to do that, I would like to have a meet and greet via either phone or in person prior to your pet's time with me. This chat would allow me to learn some very necessary information. It is important for me to know how comfortable your dog is around other animals/people, how your pet does on a leash for walks, whether your dog is potty trained/crate trained, and any pertinent medical information for an extended stay outside of your home. I would also like to know if your pet is intact; however, lack of neutering/spaying does not deter me from watching your pet. I have no breed preferences, and all breeds are welcome. This time also gives you an opportunity to ask me any questions that you have. Because I do have experience with pets with high anxiety and aggression, I am willing to facilitate multiple meetings prior to a booking to ensure your comfortability, as even the somewhat troublemakers need caretakers. Each potential clients gets one free meet and greet, and there would be an additional charge per meetings afterwards that would be discussed at that time. If you are anything like me, your pet is your child. Because of that, you should never feel like you are being overbearing. Please feel free to throw in any special instructions or requirements that I will gladly follow.
A typical day
While staying with me, your dog would be given the opportunity to go on various walks around my neighborhood, on jogging trails in town, or even in the wilderness of state parks in my area where I frequent often. I also have a large backyard to run around in between these excursions. If your dog is pet friendly, I have a very friendly pack of my own that would be wonderful playmates if you would like one-on-one dog play. If your dog is not fond of other dogs, we can still have plenty of fun with just the two of us. I have various tug toys and balls that we could play with together. As for older and more docile pets, I also enjoy lounging on the couch, where we can cuddle and watch movies. Of course, I would keep any medical limitations in mind. With my current position at IndyVet, I have direct access to an emergency veterinary facility. If anything were to happen while your pet was with me in relation to their health, they would be swiftly taken to seek emergency veterinary care.

Pet care experience
Hello, As a pre-veterinary student and current lead overnight emergency veterinary assistant at IndyVet, I have immense experience with animals, especially dogs and cats. Recently, I have been looking for an opportunity to spend more time with my favorite furry creatures outside of the hospital and classroom. With pets of my own, I am very familiar with how necessary exercise, structure, and play is for them. I am looking to be your go-to individual to take care of your fur babies via walks/boarding/house-sitting/drop ins and more when you cannot. I am even willing to help out if you need any help with nail trims, ear cleanings, or basic grooming necessities. Having been working in the veterinary field for over 5 years, I am also experienced with a variety of pet ailments. With that said, I have zero hesitations when it comes to working with and caring for pets with special needs or facilitating medication administration, even injections. In my line of work, I am also required to be trained and certified in CPR and various life-sustaining support. Because of my training and experience, I am confident that your pets would be well-cared for and safe with me, and I hope that I get a chance to show you that. Additionally, I have also completed the Fear Free Certification Program. This means that I am trained in the best ways to keep your cats and dogs comfortable and free of fear, anxiety, and stress in any situation, especially in a veterinary setting. The comfortability of your furry family members is of the utmost importance to me.

We had a last minute change in our pet care plans & got so lucky we found Gigi! She watched our 10 & 11 yr old pups over the 4th of July weekend and both had some funky medical issues going on, so her experience in emergency vet care put us right at ease. She was incredibly thoughtful about the process of introducing her dogs to ours, which we appreciated and we got daily updates on how they were doing. When we came to pick them up, we told her our lab has a vet appointment coming up for his allergies and she asked if we wouldn’t mind providing her with an update on what the vet says. Truly no better care than that!! And the daily photos were a huge bonus. We got some frame worthy pictures to take home with us! Thank you so much for everything, Gigi! Our pups already miss you.
Gillian is simply the BEST!!! You could not ask for better care.
Gillian is incredible. You could not ask for a better more caring person to take care of your pet.

I recently had the pleasure of using Gigi's pet sitting for the first time, and I have to say it was an excellent experience. During the meet and greet, Gigi made sure to understand my dog's routine and patiently answered all my questions. While she was taking care of my dog, she kept me informed by sending photos and detailed updates about their activities. When my dog got sick, Gigi promptly contacted the veterinarian to keep him informed and ensured my dog's well-being. Gigi was responsive and flexible with all my requests. My house was in order when I returned, and she even had the courtesy to pick up my mail and give my dog a bath. Gigi truly went above and beyond in her duties. I highly recommend her services to anyone in need of a reliable and caring pet sitter.
