Availability
I am typically available for boardings/house sitting during weekends, but will have quite an open schedule during December and beginning of January for those who will be leaving for the holidays! For cats I am able to do a few check ins daily if you don’t feel the need for me to hang around long.

Safety, trust & environment
When I meet a pet, I will assess their behavior towards me in their spaces and around their food. I will check for any resource guarding or fear and show them with patience that I am a safe person to be around. I can crate your pets or let them roam while I’m gone depending on your preferences. I can leash dogs for walks or just keep an eye on them while in a yard, whichever is preferred. I can also keep a schedule for their potty/outside times if they’re used to going at certain times. Every time I visit the home I will do a body check to make sure there are no injuries, hot spots or irritation, or anything of concern. I will also check for anything that may need to be cleaned - accidents or litter boxes. I will monitor and keep track of their eliminations (pees and poops!) to make sure they go regularly and have normal consistencies. Every morning and evening, or whenever meals or medications are scheduled, I will be sure to keep track of when they’re given on paper as well as make note of any time food isn’t eaten. I can keep you updated daily on all of these or just let you know when there’s anything abnormal or of note to mention - whichever you prefer!

Information Gillian G. would like to know about your pet
- what are they like around other cats/dogs? - are they comfortable interacting with strangers and having them go into their home? - any health issues that need to be monitored? - food or toy aggressions? - any food or medications need to be given? - their activity level? - how are they on a leash/in public? - any behaviors you would like me to correct? i.e. getting on furniture, jumping up on people, etc. - are they potty or crate trained/do they need to be put in a crate before I leave? - how do they behave towards grooming if that is a service you request? - really anything you could possibly think of, the more info I have on your pet and what you normally do with them in your home, the better! Any breed accepted!
A typical day
I love to do enrichment activities with pets and can give them puzzles or treat dispensing toys for mental stimulation! If your pet is getting frustrated or tired of it a good ol game of fetch or tug of war is also fun for us to expend their energy. If that’s not their cup of tea either, I’d enjoy taking a walk with them around the neighborhood or in a nice park nearby. Afterwards we can come inside to rest and enjoy lots of pets. If your pet is a cat, lasers, balls, catnip toys, or those fishing pole toys are also lots of fun. If they’re not feeling it I’m always down to just chill out and relax!

Animal lover with experience!
Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Gillian and I have always had a special place in my heart for caring and spending time with animals. I have a total of 6 years of experience working at two different dog daycare/pet boarding facilities where I had the responsibility of caring for all kinds of animals while boarding, overseeing dog groups during daycare, keeping an eye on their overall health, as well as some basic dog grooming. I had tons of fun watching the dogs play and keeping them entertained and loved, but of course my main job was to make sure that everyone was behaving themselves and playing safely. I had plenty of training on dog-to-dog and dog-to-human behaviors that let me know what was okay and what was not and how to prevent any fights. When an animal was boarding, I was responsible for keeping their living area clean and comfortable, providing food and water to the owner’s preferences, giving medications when necessary, keeping watch over any concerning health or behaviors, and making sure any other expectations the owner had were met. I was also required to become dog CPR certified. I have had the opportunity to care for many different breeds, ages, sizes, and health needs of dogs, cats, reptiles, guinea pigs, and rats. Several of the dogs and cats in our care I’d seen through to the end of their lives. I learned how to manage older dogs and cats health and the many different ways of assisting them in living their life as comfortably and safely as possible. I’ve learned about different warning signs for possible emergency or life threatening health situations and what to act fast on. As much as I hope nothing ever happens to your baby, I am still equipped to handle emergencies. I also have two small dogs of my own. One is a very shy and sensitive lil fella with major allergies who I’ve learned to adapt to. The other is a teensy little rascal that I’ve had since he was just under 2 months, so I have professional and personal experience working with and caring for puppies! I love to help all that I can with your pets, but unfortunately I am quite small myself and won’t have anyone else around to help! I have the most experience with dogs and work best with smaller dogs, but I can work with any size dog that is cooperative and confident around strangers. I love big dogs so very much, but I know that there are some that I just will not be able to work with safely on my own. Let me know what I can do for you and your pet(s) and I will be happy to do it and give the best care possible for your pet!

Reviews

This was the first time we had Gillian take care of our dogs and she did a great job. The dogs were fed and medicated on time and played with, which is very important as one of our dogs has severe separation anxiety.

Very flexible and accommodating when my flights changed last minute and always sent lots of photos!

Gillian was great! She stayed for the weekend and loved on our animals like her own. She took our dog for a car ride one of the days and a nice walk. She kept in touch and sent pictures of the cat & dog who looked very content with her being there. We will definitely use Gillian again!

Gillian was so kind and loving to Jafar while we were away. Not only was she responsive and adaptable, she sent tons of photos and detailed notes so we felt like he was in good hands. Thanks so much Gillian!
