Availability
Your boarding pet will be treated as one of my own. Boarding dogs can elect to join my other dogs on some of the adventures we take weekly (training, exercise, frisbee, etc.). Boarding cats and small animals get multiple visits per day from my myself and sometimes my kids (if this is acceptable to you). Those visits include cleaning, feeding, and interacting with them in whatever way they may prefer. For some small animals, this may mean watching tv together, playing with a toy, or just being in the same room and talking to them.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a fenced in backyard off my back door. The gate is secured and locked at all times. My front porch has a small gate to prevent any boarding dogs from exiting out the front door. Doors of the rooms that small animals board in have an outside lock to prevent anyone from accidentally opening the door to their space.

Information Gillian C. would like to know about your pet
Let me know if your pet has any special needs. Dogs staying with me will spend brief periods of the day in a kennel - this is to allow my dogs and yours to have breaks from each other. It is helpful for dogs to be kennel trained before their stay with me.
A typical day
My neighborhood has great sidewalks and can be very quiet for walking dogs. My dogs and dogs boarding will get mental exercise as well as physical exercise both in the house and in the backyard. I am a big fan of treat puzzles especially when I need the dog to relax in a kennel. When the weather is nice (winter can be tricky in Iowa), we aim to take daily walks or enjoy solo time at the dog park.

Pet care experience
I am an active pet parent that has six dogs of my own. I enjoy running with them and playing a variety of dog sports. In addition to my dogs, I have cats who have grown up around dogs. I have rabbits that do trick training with me and have plenty of free roam time. My current reptiles include an 11 year old turtle, a ball pythons, corn snakes, sand boa, a leopard gecko, and dart frogs. I also have finches (society and zebra) that love to sing at sunrise each morning and a conure who has lots of things to say! BOARDING/DROP-IN VISITS: I am available to board or sit for your dogs, cats or small animals. I have experience caring for dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, parakeets, doves, conures, numerous reptiles, and fish. I have fostered cats and kittens for the Iowa City animal shelter for many years and currently foster rabbits for A Home for EveryBunny, Iowa's only rabbit rescue. My preference for dog boarding is small/medium dogs or young puppies. I am able to board a maximum of two dogs at a time, so please contact me early to reserve your dates - especially around the holidays. Your dogs will live in my house as if they were one of my own dogs - enjoying many of the same activities. Interactions between your dogs and mine are limited unless all parties (human and canine) agree upon it. I am able to accommodate a maximum of two boarding cats at a time. Boarding cats will have their own room in my home and will not have any interaction with my own cats. Boarding cats will have plenty of space to climb and play and hide. I encourage you to bring your own litter box and litter. Cats do better with their own supplies! Bunnies or other small animals that board with me will be housed in a room that is separate from all other pets in the house. Safety of small animals boarding with me is the top priority. The door to the room where your small animal will be boarding will be kept closed to prevent the unexpected. This does not mean your small animal will not get attention - on the contrary the quiet room provides a great space for me to spend quality time with your pet without frightening them with strange noises, sights, or smells. Rover does not currently allow pet owners to choose a small animal when adding a pet to an account. I would encourage you to select "cat" but then add the type of small animal your pet is to the name of the small animal. This will help everyone identify your pet. If it easier for your small animal to remain in your home while you are gone, please select drop-in visits. Then, be sure to let me know how long each visit should be and with what frequency. If you are unsure, daily visits are recommended. Twice daily for animals that are used to more companionship is even better! If you prefer not to use a formal Rover account for your small animal, please contact me directly to arrange boarding or drop-in visits.

Amazing with my dog Vader! Would definitely use her again!

Gillian did a fantastic job pet sitting for our cats, tortoise, and fish. She gave updates and sent pictures daily on the animals. We will definitely ask for Gillian for any future pet sitting needs.
Gillian was nothing short of perfect! She took care of over 20 reptiles and I came back home to perfectly healthy and happy animals! So happy I found someone that can take care of my pets without me stressing over them while traveling! Highly recommend!

Gillian took really good care of my two pups! She was very responsive and kept me well informed. Will definitely be requesting for her to pet sit again! Thanks Gillian!
