Hello Dog Owners, my name is Gill and I adore dogs. I grew up with a dachshund, until age 11. I love spending a lot of time outdoors, walking in the countryside or riding my mountain bike. I live in Chippenham where there are many great dog walks nearby. I’ve been looking after other people’s dogs for 10 years now. It started with Borrowmydoggy when I lived in London. I walked Ted and Alan, both yorkshire terriers, for 3 years until their owner moved away. Then came 2 adorable big labradoodles, Hoozer and Oreo, who for 4 years I regularly walked and sat for while their owners were on holiday. Then I moved to Wiltshire where I grew up and have family. As a member of Trustedhousesitters I sat for 1 Labrador, 2 rescue cats and 4 alpacas which was fun! I now regularly sit for Golden retriever Nala and staffy/greyhound cross Bluebell when their owners are away and walk local cockapoo Bella every week. Several of these dogs have had medical issues and I’m used to managing meds. So I may be new to Rover but have plenty of sitting experience. Now having semi-retired from a career in marketing consultancy, I’m keen to spend more time caring for dogs and other animals and love meeting owners and their furry companions.

Qualifications
Safety, trust & environment
I offer pet sitting in your own home. I like to have a video or phone chat with owners before the sit to understand everything that's important about the animals, e.g. their exact routine, details of food and any meds, number and timing of walks, on/off lead etc. The most important aspect of a sit is that the animals feel safe and cared for, and that they continue with the routine you have with them. During the sit I send a few pictures of what we've been up to, and communicate with you at regular intervals. I don’t like to leave dogs for more than two hours, less if they’re very anxious and when sitting I generally tend to spend all my time with the dogs, except for the obvious trips to the supermarket, etc. I don’t do back-to-back sits, perhaps one every 2-3 months, and do it just for the joy of being with the dogs and other animals. I'm also interested in dog walking and helping owners out by dropping in to feed or be with dogs or cats. Please get in touch to discuss your needs.

Schedule
I'm semi-retired now, so when I’m available for sitting or walks I won’t be working. I can dedicate all my time to your pets. For walking, I can walk your dog twice a week in the afternoons at a time of your choosing.

For example, the golden retriever I sit for has arthritis in her hips. She loves getting in a pond in the woods but struggles to get out again, so it’s best to put her back on the lead when we approach the pond.
