Hello! I’m a first year veterinary student with 3 years experience as a veterinary assistant at a small animal general practice. I’m skilled in safe animal handling, physical restraint, preventative care, and administering medications. I’m Fear Free Certified and always prioritize low-stress, compassionate care. Moreover, I’m comfortable with sitting for senior pets with medical needs. I have personal experience managing chronic illness in my own dog for 2+ years, including giving at-home subcutaneous fluids and consistent oral medications. I have experience with bathing and would be more than happy to offer baths or nail trims upon request for an additional charge. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and well-being are always my top priority.

Gilana was wonderful to work with! We needed care for our dog Mowgli on short notice and she stepped up. Quick to respond and easy to communicate with. Mowgli had a wonderful stay and Gilana sent many photos and updates. We will be booking with her again in the future, I’m sure!

Gilana was such a great sitter for our pups. She has watched them over night and during the day. We have booked her several times just because of how well she took care of our 2 boys (a pittie mix and a dachshund). I would definitely recommend her to any of our family or friends or anyone in need of a reliable dog sitter.
Gilana Rincon has been an excellent pet sitter for my very anxious senior dog. My dog is an 11-year-old small mixed breed, and he requires extra patience and care. She has looked after him several times while my family and I were on vacation, often for a week or longer. She followed his feeding routine carefully, including his home-cooked meals of boiled chicken and rice, his probiotics, and his dry food. Because my dog is very anxious, he is afraid to go outside with most people and can become aggressive on walks. However, Gilana has been able to manage him calmly and safely when taking him out. As a veterinary student with experience as a vet tech, Gilana has also been incredibly helpful when I’ve had concerns about my dog’s health. On one occasion, when he had a severe stomach issue, she guided me on what to check, such as how his stomach felt and the condition of his stool, and suggested steps to take. She also explained when it would be necessary to see a veterinarian and what the vet visit might involve, which helped ease my anxiety and made the process much less stressful. Gilana compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly cares about both the pets she looks after and their owners. I have no hesitation in recommending her as a pet sitter and dog walker, and I am confident she will one day be an excellent veterinarian.

Programa
As a student, I attend classes during the weekday, but my schedule allows me to run home during lunch breaks and between classes for potty breaks, feedings, and check-ins. My evenings are completely free, so your pet will have plenty of attention, supervision, and companionship during the evening hours and will not be left alone.

My home is a townhome with no pets and no children, providing a calm and controlled environment. There is plenty of space for pets to move around comfortably, and I can easily accommodate crates or set up separate areas if needed. I’m also happy to follow your pet’s established routines and household rules, including furniture access and sleeping arrangements, to help them feel at home.
Un día normal
I love tailoring activities to each pet’s personality and energy level. Activities can include playing with toys at home, walks, and trips to a nearby park by a lake, as well as mentally stimulating games to keep them engaged and happy. As a frequent runner, I am happy to take athletic dogs on runs if they enjoy that level of activity. For pets who prefer a slower pace, I’m just as happy to relax together, enjoy quiet companionship, and let them be a couch potato.
