I start by getting instructions from the pet owner on each pets needs, esp. around health or safety concerns. I'm a big fan of staying in touch early, both when things go right (photos) of if I need advice or help.

I work from home on my computer and phone, which means I'm around a lot. Sometimes I have to do in-person meetings, which can take me away from the house for 4 to 6 hours at the very most.
A typical day
I'm an avid walker, hiker, and runner, so if your dog(s) can handle it, I'll give them plenty of outdoor "nosing" time as well as some exercise. I'm also good with taking them to a dog park, and throwing a ball or frisbee.

I've had my own pets over the years, including cats, dogs and others. These days I'm too mobile to have my own pets, but still love to have them around. I work from (your) home so I'm around enough to keep pets company, and I'm a clean and quiet house guest as well.
