Pet care experience

I ❤ all 4 legged creatures!

Hi pet lovers! Just wanted to put a couple of things up front...first as far as dog walking is concerned I'm getting a lot of requests from all over Jersey and I don't have a car so unfortunately I've had to turn most of them down. So please note I'm only looking for dog walking jobs in Edgewater or elsewhere if you are open to paying for my uber there & back (I actually do have one client who does that, that's the only reason I'm including it). The second thing is regarding housesitting...please note that if you are requesting housesitting, I'm happy to if I'm available but I need to be able to bring my 1 1/2 yr old micro mini labradoodle, Cole. I already have it in my profile below but I just got a request from someone who said no because I have a dog so I'm writing it very first thing in case people don't read any further. And speaking of Cole, he LOVES other dogs. So if you are interested in having me host your dog for doggy day care or a longer stay, I just would need to know your dog gets along with other dogs as well. Obviously it's harder for me to do house sitting now but I'm leaving it up on the chance I have someone who wouldn't mind me bringing him. Anyway, Cole and I both look forward to meeting your pups (or cats for that matter, He's also great with cats, he's super loving to all and doesn't have a mean bone in his body). And on that note... I adore dogs and cats (not to mention hedgehogs, shout out to Choggie and Jefferson, may they RIP.). I have always dreamed of caring for animals professionally and so far have absolutely loved doing so for the past several years.

Safety, trust & environment

Any animal who boards with me will have my undivided attention. Also, there is a dog park near me I will take your dog to daily. And to anyone concerned about there being any sort of negative interaction between your pet and my hedgehog, please don't worry. Hedgehogs are nocturnal so he stays in his cage sleeping all day. So far it has not been an issue at all with any of the dogs I've boarded (including one VERY curious & energetic puppy lol).

Pets

A typical day

I take the dogs I care for on 3-4 walks per day and as stated above at least one of those walks is always to the dog park in my neighborhood (as long as you're ok with that, I've learned recently that some people actually prefer their dogs not go to the dog park so I respect whatever your preferences are). Anyway, it's about a 10 minute walk from me so a nice 20 minute walk there and back & I will always try to keep them there until they've at least had some sort of social interaction playing with another dog or dogs. I also bring the dogs I board with me on my dog walking jobs 1 So I don't have to leave them at home and 2. So they get to socialize for sure w/ other dogs. My regular dog walking clients are all sweethearts(if I do say so myself) that love to meet & play with new dogs. Other than that I always make it a point to play with them frequently myself when we're inside to keep them stimulated and of course, give them lots of love!

From time to time when I am boarding a dog I may take on a dog walking client and/or have a dog for doggy day care just for the day If you are boarding your dog with me and this is something you're not comfortable with for any reason please just let me know ahead of time. When I board a dog my loyalty will be to them first and foremost so I don't ever want to put them in a situation which will not be safe or enjoyable for them. Also, I noticed on my profile it says dogs are not allowed on the furniture and I'm not sure why because I didn't write that but I can't figure out how to change it. In all honesty, that was initially going to be my rule but that quickly went out the window my first day on the job when I was caring for both the puppy I mentioned earlier and another older dog. The puppy was desperate to play with the older dog but the older dog wasn't having it so the puppy just barked incessantly at her & the only way I could get her to settle down was to let both of them on the couch with me. Since then I've been letting the dogs on the furniture. However, I always ask the owner if the dog is allowed on the furniture in their homes first. One family whose dog I cared for recently told me that he was not allowed on the furniture at home so I didn't let him on the furniture in my apartment because I wanted to give him consistency. So basically it's on a case by case basis depending on whatever your dog is used to. Last but not least, I know different animals have different needs and I want to be able to provide your pet with whatever they need to be happy & healthy. For instance with the dog I'm currently boarding, I was told in advance that he has separation anxiety and I would need to stay with him at all times so that's exactly what I've been doing. I actually found these great channels on YouTube that have music to help dogs with separation anxiety! So I've been playing it for him periodically and every night before bed to help him wind down. Last but not least, although his owner didn't ask me to give him a bath, we got caught out in the rain yesterday and he is a bernadoodle who has pretty long fur so he was just absolutely filthy when we got home. I'd never given a dog a bath before either but I have to say, not to toot my own horn, but I think it actually went pretty well and now he looks & smells so much cleaner. So again I'm just giving these examples to say if you have any special requests for your dogs in advance, please don't hesitate to ask or tell me. I will do my absolute best to accommodate your pet's needs so that they have the best experience possible staying with me.
