Availability

I work for myself from my home, running a small music business consultancy. I tend to have a few video calls a day, and arrange the rest of my day as I see fit. I am therefore available for long dog walks at least a few times a day, and can welcome dogs and cats for boarding most nights. I live 5 min walk from Folkestone's famous promenade The Leas, which is an ideal sitting for dog walking. The beach is only 10 min walk away, and so is the local park. For toilet breaks, my building also benefits from a communal garden.

Safety, trust & environment

If your dog spends one or several nights at mine, they will have plenty of room to stretch as I have a large living room and several bedrooms, which they are welcome to enter and sleep in if it's their habits - just no jumping/sleeping on beds please. Cats would also be welcomed everywhere in the flat. I do not own a pet of my own yet, so your animal(s) would have my full attention when staying over or when I visit your home, for walks and as much cuddles as they are keen to receive! I am also happy to cater for and welcome several dogs and/or cats from the same family. As explained above, I have experience with young and elderly animals, and with giving medication, and I'll be happy to follow instructions given, and to continue training during their stay with me if required. Please note my flat is on the 2nd floor with no lift, so I can't cater for dogs with mobility issues.

Information Géraldine Z. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any special needs or issues that requires my attention. I am flexible and happy to cater for anything I can, may it be special diets, training reinforcement etc.

A typical day

I love spending time playing with dogs, from fetch to tug wars, to sensory games, not forgetting belly rubs! I have a variety of nice walks on my doorstep, from the leafy Leas promenade, to the Leas Coastal Park, to the beach promenade, to the beach itself (where allowed in summer), to the local park. Further along for longer walks is Sandgate beach, Folkestone Harbour Arm, which we'll all explore if your dog is staying with me for a few days!

Pet care experience

I grew up around various pets and animals from a very young age, from cats to dogs, to horses, to guinea pigs. In fact, as a kid my ultimate career goal was to become a jungle veterinarian! Fast forward 3 decades and I'm no closer to working in the jungle, but I do still have the same love for all sorts of animals. After looking after pets for friends and family, including elderly cats and dogs, as well as pets requiring medication (diabetes shots, tablets), I decided to take advantage of my flexible schedule (I work for myself), and to look after other people's pets on a more regular basis. In the first half of 2022, I have cared for more than 30 pets all across England, including spaniels, springer spaniels, labradors, german pointers, daschund, whippets, chicken and even tortoises! Ages ranged from a few months to 13 years old. I have a great immediate connection with most animals, as they can sense I have a deep love and affection for them, and the feeling is mutual as they tend to get very comfortable around me really quick. As I am looking to look after animals more often and in a more professional manner, I am now fully insured and currently studying animal care, including canine first aid as well as animal communication.

Toto was very happy when I returned in the evening. I had a good report during the visit and plenty of photos to confirm his activities. This was my first time leaving him for a full day and I was very reassured by the care he received.

Max stayed overnight at Géraldine’s. He was well cared for while he was there. Géraldine provides plenty of photo updates and is great at responding to our messages. We’re very happy to leave Max with her again!

Geraldine was incredible with our 3 month old puppy, we met beforehand so Geraldine could get to know Harley and understand her needs. During the stay I was kept updated with messages and pictures, which helped ease my nerves. Harley loved her time there and came home very tired and happy

It was Benji's first time staying with Geraldine and she really made him feel at home. When I collected Benji, he was very relaxed and wasn't in a rush to leave. I also appreciated the photos.
