Pet care experience

Premium Care by a Lifelong Advocate

I offer a premium boarding experience because I believe every dog deserves to be treated like family, not inventory. I strictly limit my capacity to one or two dogs to ensure they get the attention and peace of mind they need. My home is a real home, not a kennel. I currently care for Violet, a Belgian Malinois service dog, and Scarlet, a Maine Coon kitten. My experience goes far beyond that, too. My journey has taken me from volunteering with A Forever Home Dog Rescue to a wildlife rescue in Virginia, and now to raising neonatal kittens from just a few hours old. I have a unique skill set for managing a wide range of animals—from fragile newborns to high-energy working dogs—in a calm, household setting. While you might find cheaper options elsewhere ($30–$40/day), those often involve high-volume, kennel-style setups with multiple dogs in separate rooms. My $60/day rate reflects the exclusive, one-on-one care and quiet environment you get here. You aren't paying for a bed in a facility; you're paying for a home where your dog is an honored guest.

Genevieve was a blessing to our family and how she took care of Cedar. He had a great time, I can tell by how he ran to the door looking for her after she left. Our communication was great - Genevieve provided updates via text so I always knew how Cedar was doing. Her picking and dropping off Cedar also took the stress away. I would gladly use Genevieve again and again!

Genevieve came to our rescue when I was ill in bed and took Khaleesi out for 30 minutes of snow time that I'm sure she will never forget! We live in a "hard to find" area with codes needed to get in the doors.Genevieve politely contacted me with confusion as to where our home was and after 15 -20 minutes of searching, we finally were able to meet in a common place! So thank you Genevieve- for hanging in with our horrible directions, tight schedule, and crazy pup! And thanks for following through and adding an adorable video of Khaleesi in the snow!

Genevieve was awesome. Allowed us to reserve at the last minute, was very flexible, and great with our two Labs. Would recommend again and again. Great experience.

Genevieve was so welcoming and loving to Rouger while I was traveling. As a fellow sitter I value this highly! He got along great with her pups.

Genevieve is a caring and responsible person. I always feel comfortable and at peace when leaving my pets with her. I know that my pets are getting the best care, being fed as directed, and loved and played with a lot. Highly recommend Genevieve as a pet sitter!

I have known Genevieve for approximately 5 years, the first 2 years of which I had considerable contact with due to the fact that we were living very close to one another. We quickly became friends - sharing a love of our dogs and gardening amongst other things. I experienced first hand Genevieve's love, compassion, discipline, and companionship of her own dogs, and also those she had fostered (through rescue work), and "dog sitting" for friends and neighbours, and/or dogs simple in her life at any given point. Genevieve was frequently around my own rescue dogs (a JRT/Aussie Cattle dog - often quite a handful; and my German Spitz), again demonstrating without exception her love of dogs. I would not hesitate to recommend Genevieve to any potential client seeking assistance with dog/house sitting, either in your own home, or whatever arrangement is put in place. Genevieve is an individual of the highest honesty and integrity, with total commitment to whatever task - regardless of what it is or how it is presented. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Dorothy

Schedule

Pet Care is Family Life, Not a Job My home operates on a calm, consistent routine designed to make every guest feel safe and settled. As a remote worker with a quiet home, I am present and available throughout the day. Morning: We start with a gentle wake-up, a potty break, and breakfast. Daytime: While I work, your pet is right beside me—a quiet companion in a comfy dog bed or in a safe play area. I check in frequently for water, a quick snack, or a cuddle. Afternoon: We have dedicated time for one-on-one play, mental stimulation, or a relaxing walk (weather permitting). Evening: We wind down together, often with quiet time before bed. Because I host only one or two guests, this routine is tailored to your pet's needs, not a generic schedule for a group. There are no crowded kennel hours or constant noise; just a steady, loving presence.

Safety, trust & environment

My home is a safe, controlled environment where safety is my top priority. Because I treat every pet as family, I maintain strict protocols to ensure their well-being. Supervision: I am home full-time and provide constant supervision. There is no "cage time" or unsupervised roaming. Secure Environment: My home is pet-proofed. I do not leave pets unattended in crates for long periods; they are integrated into family life. Emergency Preparedness: I have an SUV ready for immediate transport to the vet. I carry a fully stocked pet first-aid kit and have a clear emergency action plan for every guest. Background Checks: I have passed a basic background check and maintain a 100% response rate, ensuring reliability and trust. I also maintain an active government clearance. Health & Hygiene: I follow strict cleaning protocols, especially given my experience with neonatal kittens (who are highly susceptible to illness). I isolate new guests if needed and monitor health closely.

Pets

A typical day

Morning: We start slow and steady. After a gentle potty break and a quiet breakfast, we spend time bonding. Whether it’s a leisurely walk, a quick game of tug, or just some cuddles on their own super-comfy, expensive dog bed, the goal is to settle into a calm, family rhythm. Midday: I work from home, so your pet is never isolated in a crate. They stay right by my side on their own bed or a designated play area, enjoying quiet company while I work. It’s a low-stress environment where they feel like a true part of the household. Afternoon: This is all about mental stimulation and fun. We’ll do whatever your pup loves most—tug of war, hide-and-seek, treasure hunts, or fetch. For cats, it’s about climbing, hunting games, and exploring. I’ll tailor the activities to their personality so they stay happy and engaged without the chaos of a busy kennel. Evening: We wind down with a final potty break, a cozy meal on their bed, and some quiet time before bed. Your pet goes to sleep feeling loved, safe, and fully cared for—just like they would at home.

I don't have any breed preferences. I'm rarely unfamiliar with a breed. I would like to have a general idea of your dog's normal daily activities and temperament. I will try to keep them in a routine as much as possible.
