I'm a Zoology graduate with hands-on animal care experience from a nine-month internship at SEA LIFE Weymouth. During my placement, I helped with daily feeding, animal husbandry, welfare checks and monitoring animal health and behaviour, while following care procedures. I also have experience caring for my own dog, Ralph (1.5 years old), and my previous dog Buddy, and understand the importance of patience, consistency and getting to know each pet's individual needs. I'm happy to follow your pet's usual routine, whether that's going for walks, feeding, playtime or keeping them company at home. I'm reliable, caring and happy to keep you updated with photos and messages while you're away. I want both you and your pet to feel comfortable and reassured.

Safety, trust & environment
Your pet's safety and comfort are really important to me. I have hands-on animal care experience from my Zoology degree and my nine-month aquarist internship at SEA LIFE Weymouth, where I followed care procedures and monitored animal health and behaviour. When caring for pets in their own home, I'll follow your instructions, respect your home and keep to your pet's familiar routine. I'll also make sure doors, gates and leads are secure, and contact you if I have any concerns.

I couldn’t recommend Gemma highly enough as a pet sitter. She has had a dog throughout her entire life and has always had a genuine love and passion for animals. She’s caring, responsible and naturally attentive to their needs. She also studied Zoology at university, so she has a great understanding of animal behaviour and welfare, which I think makes her particularly well suited to looking after other people’s pets. She treats animals with so much patience, affection and respect, and I’d feel completely comfortable trusting her with any pet. Any animal would be lucky to have her looking after them!

Schedule
I'm currently flexible with my schedule and can arrange pet care around my weekly commitments. I'm happy to discuss your pet's usual routine in advance and plan visits, walks or house sitting to suit their needs. If I'm caring for your pet overnight, I'll make sure we agree on timings for walks, feeding, toilet breaks and companionship. I'll keep you updated if my availability changes.
