Pet care experience

Genuine, Loving, Caring in the home environment!

We are a family of dog lovers. Our 4 children are all older, 12-22 years in age and have lived with dogs their entire lives. We are used to caring for both the young and old, energetic and calm dogs. We will cater our activities to suit your pets needs, maybe a 5-10k off road run for your energetic dog or a nice gentle walk across the croft for the older or less mobile dog. There will always be someone to throw a ball or a lap to lay on in this home. I work from home weaving Harris Tweed and often have a loom dog in tow, she’s an almost 7 yr old soft coated wheaten terrier. She loves other dogs to play with or snuggle with on the sofa. We live off the main road surrounded by croft land with lots of sheep. We have a large garden and we are only a few mins walk from a couple of beaches. Photos and updates will be provided throughout your furry friends stay with us.

Gemma was brilliant and had excellent communication. She sent us unprompted updates and photos, which we really appreciated. Our dog had the best time with her, her family, and their dog Cuilean. We would absolutely ask Gemma to look after our dog again. Thank you Gemma!

We are really delighted with Gemma after she looked after our demanding but friendly spaniel. He was very happy and well treated. Clearly the whole family like dogs and I was impressed that they fed back to me on anything they thought I should be aware of. The messages during the stay were great and a welcome touch. I would definitely use Gemma again.

Highly recommend! Gemma & family looked after our dog so well, lots of walks/activities for her to enjoy, this was her 2nd time boarding with them & she was so exited to see Gemma & Cuilean again. Lots of pics & updates too which is always great to receive when you’re away from your pet! Will be def be booking Gemma again.

I was very nervous about leaving Georgie with someone I’d never met, but I shouldn’t have worried. Gemma and her family looked after Georgie so well, she had an absolutely great time with them. Gemma kept me up to date about her adventures with photos and videos. I would definitely recommend Gemma as a dog sitter.

Gemma was very helpful and accommodating with our request to take care of our dog while we were away. Planning the stay was straightforward. When we arrived, Gemma introduced us to her family and gave us a tour of the house and garden, making sure we felt comfortable with the environment our dog would be in. We received regular photo updates, which we thoroughly enjoyed. When the time came to pick up our dog, he initially didn’t even want to leave. Can there be any more genuine feedback? Overall, it was a very pleasant and welcoming experience—highly recommended!

Safety, trust & environment

We have large fenced gardens. We are surrounded by crofts with sheep and cows. We also have access to off road walks to beaches, cliff routes and moor land. The home is dog friendly and fairly spacious. Your dog can choose to sleep on his bed, in a crate (not supplied) or the sofa next to our own dog. For cats we have several cat beds around the home but our own cat ignores every single one and chooses the top of the sofas or a lucky child’s bed for the night.

Pets

A typical day

Pets in our care will have access to the gardens, loom shed and house. We usually aim to get a few outings a day, if it’s a glorious sunny day then we ditch the house and head to the beach for a dip in the sea. In the home they can pick one of many laps to relax with or lay alone if preferred.
