I rescued my own dog from Belarus where he was a street dog. Elvis is blind and needs extra care but leads a full and happy life with us. We also have a cat at home and a horse on a local farm. We are fully licensed with Sunderland City Council and Ofqual canine first aid trained (level 3).

Gaynor is such a kind, caring, responsible lady who I have known for a long time. All of her animals and the animals she looks after are cared for to the highest possible standard in her beautiful and spacious home. This includes those with physical and emotional/behavioural issues like my “high needs” anxious senior Chihuahua with arthritis and “issues”! You could not ask for a better dog boarder!!

I honestly couldn’t think of anyone better to look after your dog than Gaynor. She’s one of those rare people who just gets animals — they instantly feel comfortable around her because they can sense her kindness and calm energy. She’s the kind of person who will sit on the floor to make friends with a shy pup, celebrate every tail wag, and make sure your dog feels completely loved and secure while you’re away. I’ve seen firsthand how much care and attention she gives to animals, and it’s amazing to watch. She’s responsible, dependable, and incredibly thoughtful — the type of person you can trust completely. On top of that, her communication is fantastic; she’ll keep you updated and make sure you always know your furry friend is happy and safe. If you’re heading to work or off on holiday, you can truly relax knowing your pet is in the best hands with Gaynor. She’ll treat them like family, and you’ll come home to a content, well-cared-for dog who’s been loved every minute you were gone.

I cannot recommend Barkingham Palace highly enough. Our two cocker spaniels, Pickle and Smudge, stayed there recently and from the moment we arrived, it was clear they would be treated like absolute royalty. The level of personal care and attention given to them was outstanding — it truly felt like a home from home. We were kept completely at ease knowing our boys were not just being looked after, but genuinely loved. Their routines, quirks, and cuddles were all understood and respected. It’s rare to find somewhere that feels so trustworthy, warm, and high-end all at once. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Pickle and Smudge — we wouldn’t hesitate to return.
