This is a difficult review to write because Gabrielle was kind, responsive, and receptive to our feedback throughout the stay. House was clean and she took out our garbage on garbage night. Unfortunately, despite those positive qualities, our overall experience did not meet our expectations. We booked her for in-home sitting for six nights (later extended to seven when our travel plans changed) and agreed that she only needed to stay "some" nights. On the first night, we noticed via our Ring camera that her last visit had been at 5:45 p.m. Around 9:20 p.m., we reached out to ask whether she planned to return that evening. She replied that she could stop by before going to bed and was not planning to stay the night, which gave us the impression that she had not planned another visit. We were concerned because that would have left our dog alone for a very long stretch without a potty break or companionship. Additionally, many of her drop in visits were short at 20 minutes or less (one being 8 minutes then not returning for 12.5 hours). Aside from the two nights she ultimately stayed, the overnight gaps were approximately 12 hours, with one gap reaching 14 hours. For our dog’s needs, we felt those stretches were too long. By the fourth night, no overnight stays had occurred, so we asked about the plan going forward. Gabrielle shared that she was also caring for a loved one and said she could stay the following night. We sympathized with her situation, but it was difficult to address our concerns further because we were already worried that our dog was not getting enough companionship and care while we were states away. When we returned home, our dog smelled of pee, and we found dried urine spots on the couch and one of her dog beds. We believe these accidents may have been related to the extended periods of time she was left alone overnight. In hindsight, we should have been more specific about what "some" nights meant and set a daily schedule to ensure clear expectations. We were trying to be flexible, but our previous experiences with house sitters involved them using our home as their primary base and staying overnight consistently. Gabrielle may have been going through a particularly challenging personal week, and her other reviews suggest that this experience may not be typical. We genuinely wish her the best. At the same time, if additional support was needed to fulfill her commitments, we would have appreciated knowing so that we could have arranged alternative care and ensured our dog’s needs were fully met.

Gabrielle was very quick and responsive! She treated my animals as her own and took great care of them. She stayed the duration and made sure my puppy was happy!
