- If you are going to be caring for or interacting with someone else's dog, there are several key pieces of information you should know ahead of time. Here are some examples: Medical history: It's important to know if the dog has any medical conditions, allergies, or medications they need to take regularly. This information will help you provide appropriate care and recognize any potential health concerns. Behavior and temperament: Understanding a dog's behavior and temperament can help me provide the right level of care and attention. Exercise and activity needs: Knowing a dog's exercise and activity needs can help you provide appropriate opportunities for physical activity and mental stimulation. Diet and feeding schedule: Understanding a dog's diet and feeding schedule is important for their health and well-being. Make sure you know what food they eat, how much they should be fed, and how often they should be fed. Training and obedience: Knowing a dog's level of training and obedience can help you provide appropriate guidance and support. For example, if a dog has not been trained to walk on a leash. Emergency contact information: It's important to know who to contact in case of an emergency, such as the dog's owner or their veterinarian.
