I’ve been a pet owner since I was 5, so I have tons of hands-on experience with dogs, cats, fish, birds and reptiles. My dream is to someday open my own doggy daycare/boarding facility, because working with animals has always been my passion. I am very patient with animals, which helps me to bond with even the shyest of pets. My roll and experience at the doggy daycare I manage is overseeing the daily operations of the facility, ensuring a safe, clean, and fun environment for all dogs. Grouping dogs appropriately based on size, temperament, and play style; monitor play yards to prevent overstimulation or conflict. Maintain strict sanitation and health protocols, ensuring all kennels, play areas, and equipment are deeply cleaned and sanitized daily. Manage stock levels for dog food, treats, cleaning supplies, first aid kits, and office materials. Recruit, interview, and train new daycare attendants and pack leaders on dog behavior, safety protocols, and company policies. Create and manage staff schedules to ensure optimal caregiver-to-dog ratios, keeping labor costs aligned with daily attendance. Provide ongoing feedback, conduct performance reviews, and foster a positive, collaborative team environment. Train staff to recognize early signs of stress, illness, or aggression in dogs, and ensure they know how to handle emergencies or dog fights calmly and effectively. Greet pet parents during check-in/check-out, address questions, and handle client concerns or complaints with professionalism and empathy. Conduct temperament evaluations (meet-and-greets) for incoming dogs to ensure they are a good fit for open-pack play. Maintain accurate up-to-date digital records for all dogs, ensuring required vaccinations (Rabies, Bordetella, DHPP) are current. Provide owners with detailed updates, report cards, or incident reports regarding their dog’s behavior, health, and socialization. Administer medications, supplements, or specialized diets accurately as requested by owners. Provide immediate pet first aid for minor cuts, scrapes, or injuries sustained during play. Safely transport or coordinate the transport of a pet to a partner veterinarian in the event of a medical emergency. I love all the dogs like they are on my own. IAlthough I went to school to be a vet tech at Pierce, I couldn’t see myself in the vet med environment. Caring for animals has and always will be my passion.
