I work Monday to Thursday (and a short Friday bi-weekly) and have my weekends free to walk, bathe and generally love on your furry family member. I’m a home-body, so if I’m out I’m more than likely out with your dog for a walk (or hike if it suites him/her!). Of note, I am open to caring for your pupper during the week, but do know they will be alone for about 9.5 hours as I cannot work from home. They will get morning and evening walks and love on those weekdays if you need some days during the week, though! Please just ask and I could potentially open up the corresponding week days for your request.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a fenced yard and request the majority of dog sitting be done in my home. I will happily come meet you and your pup, and request you come by home home in advance of the first stay as well, so your dog and I can get acquainted and get to know my space a bit (no charge). While I prefer dogs don’t sleep on my bed (though they are welcome up on it), they are most welcome to sleep in my room, feeling safe! I live right around the corner from a school which offers lots of great bunny and squirrel smells along the back fence for sniff work. For cat care, of course I will come by your home and can do morning and evening, even on work days. On top of snuggles and play, I will feed, water, and change out the litter box for your feline love!

Information Francine d. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know specific details or needs of your pets. I do love being able to go for a run or hike with your dog if they are up for it, but really prefer those two only if they do great on a leash. Once I’ve bonded well with your pupper, are you comfortable with me taking them to an off leash park? Dog park? Do they enjoy swimming and would like a swim at Crescent? I’ll honor whatever you and your dog prefer and need! What food sensitivities do they have? I don’t feed dogs human food (unless you provide something for them that you normally feed them), but tend to have dried liver treats on hand. If they are here for longer stays I love to make up a yummy frozen kong with delightful tastes in there. So, please let me know if any sensitivity or if you don’t like the idea of any of the above! Again, I will happily honor your wishes 😊 Does your dog deal with anxiety or have any other special needs I should be aware of? Please let me know how I could best support your four legged love.
A typical day
Being that I am a home-body, I will be near your furry love a lot. I typically start the day with a short walk, and will do a longer walk (or run or hike if they are up to it!) later in the day. The school around the corner from me provides ample opportunity to sniff and explore. I love taking the dogs there to walk and sniff. Once we have bonded enough, a run at Tynehead off leash is a place I love to take dogs, as well as Crescent for a swim if they enjoy the water! Outside of that, a lot of my hobby time includes cross stitch and crocheting, so I will largely be home with your pupper.

Pet care experience
I grew up with a golden retriever, later with Cavaliers, and went on to have a Cavvy of my own. Now, I get to take care of friends’ and colleagues’ pups, and hopefully yours! If you ask me to care for a puppy I will happily continue your training routines. I grew up training our family dogs, trained my Cavalier, and have aided greatly in my brothers’ dog’s training. I would love to know your pet’s hand and verbal commands and will ensure to use those for easiest transition for your pupper. I will adjust your the kind of care your fur baby needs - be it extra energy release, nose work, rest, snuggles on the couch, quiet environment etc. I am a home body and am excited to just be near your pupper. I do love to go for runs and hikes on our local mountains, so extra bonus points if they are up for either!

Reviews

This was our lil guys first sleepover without us. Francine was kind communicative and the absolute best pal for Tank. Super grateful for her. And she also sent us home with a beautiful loaf of homemade sourdough! Simply the best. Would book with her again a million times over.
Francine is a very kind, positive person. I have personally known her for over 4 years and she is a good, caring friend. We have a five-year-old Australian Labradoodle, Jemma, and when Francine comes for coffee Jemma can’t get enough of her, she is so excited that Francine is visiting. Francine loves to play with her. If I needed to leave Jemma with someone my first choice would be Francine without hesitation.
Francine looks after my dog at least a couple of times a month, and it’s always a great experience. My dog clearly has a blast with her and gets super excited every time she sees Francine, which says a lot. I never worry when my dog is with her and always know she’s being well looked after. I’d happily recommend Francine to anyone looking for someone trustworthy who genuinely enjoys caring for dogs.
