A Tired Dog is a Happy Dog!

Pet care experience

Trained, trusted and 35 years of experience. We absolutely LOVE animals. Since I was a child, dogs and cats have been a constant in my life, not a day has gone by without a loving relationship with one. Decades of experience caring for my own, taking dog training classes, rescuing, pet sitting and day-to-day real world learning, have given me a deep appreciation & understanding of dog psychology.

Francesca took Odie on a very long walk that involved a car ride, and said he behaved well, which is a near miracle as he is a very heavy chewer and puller.

She is amazing. Of course it’s important in a person who will take responsibility for your dog, you have to know that they truly care about the dog they walking. Francesca truly cares about any dog, she walks, as she truly loves dogs. She’s also exceptionally knowledgeable, almost like a dog walker and trainer all in one. I couldn’t be more satisfied, and if you’re looking for a Dog walker, that gives you more than your money is worth, you found the right person

Francesca and her husband are absolutely incredible - definitely dog whisperers. We needed someone to watch our dog Pebble over the holidays and Francesca came to the rescue. You can tell how much they truly love and adore dogs just from the initial conversation. When we went for a visit our dog felt right at home as their house is basically specifically designed with dogs in mind. She also walked through all of Pebble’s preferences in long detail before we set up the dog sitting officially. It’s clear she has A LOT of experience with dogs - annd importantly, just truly loves them. For the week we were gone, Pebble got so much activity, attention, and love that she didn’t want to come home! They took pebble on multiple long walks everyday, figured out her likes/dislikes in terms of play, and showered her with love. Francesca kept me in the loop the entire time and ensured Pebble was comfortable at all times. They also make sure not to take too many dogs at one time and do everything to make the dogs are happy. I will most certainly be leaving Pebble with Francesca again. We feel so lucky to have found such an incredible place for our dog.

Both my husband and I work from home so your pup is never alone, and is constantly loved, belly rubbed and given as much attention as they want. We have a lot of freedom scheduling our days and spend the majority hanging out with the dogs, my husband takes them to a completely fenced-in grassy dog park for 1 full hour in the mornings, and I do the 1 hour trail walks in the afternoons. If your pup is staying overnight, I will also provide an evening walk on quiet streets in the neighborhood. Over the past 15 years, our neighbors, friends and family began to tell people about our magical bond with dogs of all types and sizes and we became the people they all entrusted their dogs with. Our two 14-year-old dogs recently passed and both taught us many lessons since they had been abused before we got them. From them, and the other dogs in our lives, we have developed an understanding of how to soothe anxious or timid dogs, as well as gained much experience with senior dogs and dogs with medical needs We do only positive reinforcement trainings and are open to any dog, even those with special needs. We would love for your dog to stay with us during the days when you are at work, or when you are traveling. We have had dogs stay for as long as 3 months while their parents were working overseas. All dog guests can join us –we include walks with our Doggie Day Care instead of charging more-which include dog parks or nice long walks and romps in the hills, or, if they are not up for romps, having one of us take them outside if they need assistance. We take only 3 dogs at a time, so your Buddy gets tons of love and attention. Our home in Glenview has dog doors, comfortable spaces that are light and bright, two decks (one with a shaded and a sunny area), and a great backyard. The yard is completely fenced and safe--100% dog proof and filled with places to dig, lay in shade or sun and relax. There are soft, clean comfortable dog beds everywhere, and free access always to the yard throughout their stay. At night, your pup has options to sleep on the Guest room queen bed, or in our room with us right next door. IF your dog feels safe in a crate, we have one we can set up, but generally we find our Dog Guests choose not to stay crated. We also have a friendly, overly entitled and long suffering cat at home, so only dogs that don’t fantasize about using cats as dental floss can stay overnight…..but ALL dogs can go for our trail romps. We have a dog friendly transport car, a flexible schedule and excellent references.

Information Francesca K. would like to know about your pet

We are experienced with "challenging" dogs and just need to know if your dog has separation anxiety, just plain anxiety, shyness, food aggression, not consistantly house trained (yet), hates car rides, or other quirks. Whatever it is, we have soothed it before and will be loving and 100% on your Dogs Team.

A typical day

Doggie Day Care is a great deal because we take all dogs with us for Dog Park runs and Hikes, they are not left behind and you are NOT charged extra for 1-2 hours of walks if your dog is just staying the day. For Dogs in Doggie Day Care and staying with us for multiple days, we do stimulating daily trail walks in the many parks and trails close by: Leona Lodge, Sausal Creek, Redwood Park, Bridgeview Trail, as well as Pt Isabel, and the Oakland Highlands. Always safe and fun. If your dog is a fetch monster--bring it on! Ball and frisbee throwing is my superpower. Mental stimulation is essential so keeping your dog engaged with toys, treats for training and games happens throughout the day, as well as tons of socialization.

My mantra is “a tired dog is a happy dog” and the closest thing to magic I’ve ever seen is watching the transformation happen when dogs get to explore nature every day. They THRIVE. Add healthy doses of love, petting, and praise and you have the secret formula to keep your buddy engaged and happy every moment of their lives. I have saved and rehabilitated countless dogs with those simple steps. Lather, rinse, repeat.
