I make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while sticking to their usual routine. I’m happy to follow their feeding, walking, playtime, and medication schedules, and I pay attention to their personality, quirks, and preferences. On walks, I’m especially mindful of their surroundings. I pay attention to what they’re smelling and what they might try to eat off the road or sidewalk, and I keep an eye out for anything that could potentially be unsafe. I’m also mindful of how they interact with other dogs and people and make sure they’re secure before heading out and when we get back home. When I’m staying in someone’s home, I treat their space with the same care and respect I would my own. Most importantly, I want both the pup and their person to feel comfortable knowing they’re in good hands.
