Pet care experience

Hi there! Tell me about your pets!

Ever since I was little, I have been known to care extra for the animals and creatures around me. I can remember helping out with family friends' dog, cat, or horse feedings fairly early on in my life. I have petsitting experience as well as internship experience at Ark Veterinarian Hospital, where I completed a 6-week full-time internship shadowing Dr. Kate Connell 2 years ago. I was able to work with some amazing technicians and doctors. I was even able to observe a few orthopedic surgeries. Now I can say that I have worked with all sorts of dogs and cats in varying medical and behavioral states. I feel incredibly grateful for the experience. I have pets of my own; my family dog Cabot (a Welsh Springer Spaniel) lives with my dad in Middlebury, and my cat Somtso (a beautiful longhair rescue) lives with me between Pennsylvania and Virginia. My family and I have cared for Cabot for over 7 years now, and sweet Somtso for over 5. I am a full-time college student going into my senior academic year at Dickinson College and am curious about fun ways I could save some money this summer. Let me know if you have any specific questions!

Safety, trust & environment

I live with roommates on campus, and alternate between living spaces when I am home, so having pets stay with me is not something I am able to accommodate at this time. I would love to be able to care for your pets elsewhere. I can do anything from long walks or games of fetch to tire an excited pup out, light training and feedings, and any help with medication or supplement schedules.

Finlay did a great job for us and she had her hands full with our two beagles! Our house is immaculate, and my plants look great. She is a find!

We cannot thank Finlay enough for the amazing care she provided for our boys while we were away. She was incredibly attentive and showed great respect and attention to detail in every aspect of their care. One of our dogs is paralyzed and requires special care, including bladder expression, which Finlay went above and beyond to learn and handle with great care. She followed all of our instructions to a tee and kept us constantly updated on how they were doing, which gave us great peace of mind. Finlay even took the initiative to research and find where she could purchase more of their specific food when our regular supplier ran out. We are so appreciative of her dedication and care for both our dogs and our home. We highly recommend Finlay to anyone looking for a reliable, caring, and proactive dog sitter!

Finlay was amazing! She kept my sheltie well taken care of while I was away, and kept my house clean and well maintained. She went above and beyond what was expected of her to take care of my house and Apollo. For example, she took out the trash while I was away, which was completely unnecessary, as I was gone for just two nights! But then she ALSO cleaned the trashcan. Just the little details of maintaining a house and home, and Finlay did an amazing job! Highly recommend. THANK YOU!

I can say that Finlay’s compassion and emotional intelligence help make her an excellent caregiver. She’s also quite responsible and detail oriented, for example she’s the one that wanted to do the “deep clean” of the back kitchen at the Starbucks where she worked in high school… 😃

I think it is important to have a general idea of how a dog behaves or particular things they do or don't like. It is extra important to know if there is a nervous habit, it can be something as silly as Golden Doodle Tommy gets super nervous around people in hats, but those are the things to really be aware of, because they aren't always self explanatory!
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
