Pet care experience
Dogs are family. Period.
We love dogs. Dogs are an integral part of our lives and we treat them like family. We have a mini Aussie who likes to play with all dogs but is generally pretty calm and an older mutt who doesn’t have much energy to play anymore and mostly sleeps all day. Both are used to always having other dogs in the house, whether it's a foster dog, dog in training or pet sitting for friends. All dogs in our house sleep in our bedroom with us (we have 7 dog beds surrounding our own that they can choose from), they are never crated, and have access to the doggy door to the backyard all day. We take all dogs on multiple walks a day and both my husband and I work from home so they always have company. My husband worked for many years as a professional dog trainer at a kennel, training dogs in agility and behavior modification. He ran agility for 10+ years before we met and together we have trained 4 dogs to be diabetes alert dogs. We also actively foster dogs through Furry Friends Animal Rescue and have rescued around 150 dogs over the last decade, anywhere from 3lb to 90lb puppies to senior dogs. Through this organization we have experienced it all: rescuing pregnant moms who had their puppies at our house, rescuing feral dogs with demodectic mange and nursing them back to health, taking on the challenging dogs that shelter staff deemed unadoptable and turning them around... there is very little we haven't seen. And if we do run into situations that we haven't seen, I can always call my sister or my brother-in-law for advice, both of whom are vets. We have twin 7-year-old kids who love dogs as much as we do, so we always enjoy having other dogs over to cuddle with and be play mates for our personal dogs. We are relatively new to Rover but have been dog sitting for friends and families who adopted former foster dogs for over 10 years. So long as the dogs get along with kids and other dogs, we would love to host them.

Ratings and reviews
Fernanda and Matthew are the BEST! Sent pictures of Dora and constant updates. Had an obvious love for dogs and was a vacation for our dog instead of us being worried if she was happy or not!

I could not recommend Fernanda & Matthew enough!! They were incredibly patient and loving to our sweet Ralphie, who we adopted only 2 months ago. Ralphie didn't really want to come home with us which is a great sign that he felt safe and very loved by this incredible family!

Great experience! Fernanda and Matthew were flexible, communicative, and sent great photos. Would definitely book with them again.

We boarded our border collie/aussie pup for 12 days. Amazing family to board with! They were great with our Lucy and had great communication with pics and videos the whole time. Look forward to using their services in the future.

Ginger seemed to love her time with Fernanda and Matthew! She had playmates which she loved. They taught her to use their doggy door. They also had sent a video and a few pics. I would definitely hire them again.
Fernanda and Matthew were great with my dog! I love that they walked and played with him. They were quick to respond and sent daily photos. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a dog sitter!! :)

Schedule
My husband works from home and I work from home 3 days of the week so between the two of us there is always someone in the house with the dogs. One of us goes on a walk around lunch time with the dogs and the other goes on a walk with them in the evening after the kids are in bed. On the weekends, the entire family joins for these walks. Most dogs learn to use the doggy door within a day of being in our house, so we don't follow a specific schedule for taking them out for the purpose of going potty as they have all-day access to the yard. When we are working, the dogs are usually curled up on our laps or on the many dog beds around our feet.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Our backyard is completely enclosed with 6ft board on board wood fence. When we adopted our mini Aussie from the shelter, we knew he was an escape artist (reason why he ended up in the shelter) so we made sure the backyard was escape-proof. Our house is still child-proofed from when we had our twins so the dogs can't get into anything that the kids can't. We will follow your lead to make your dogs as comfortable as possible. If your dogs are used to being loose in the house, we will do that as well. But if you prefer that we crate your dogs, we do have crates and baby gates that we can bring into the house for that. If we commit to watching your dogs, we won't rescue new dogs during that stay to make sure your dogs stay safe only in the company of our personal dogs, who are well socialized and fully vaccinated, and any other dogs from Rover that we may be hosting.
Pets
A typical day
We go on 2-3 walks daily, play fetch and tug in the house, have many belly rubs and cuddle sessions and let the dogs roam free to explore the house and backyard.
