Because I split my time between consulting and pet care, my schedule is intentionally designed around a smaller number of clients instead of maximizing volume. That gives me the flexibility to provide neighborhood walks, drop-in visits, daycare, and boarding without rushing from appointment to appointment. Whether your dog is here for a quick visit or a longer stay, they're part of my daily routine—not just another stop on the calendar. There are plenty of potty breaks, walks, play sessions, naps, belly rubs (when requested), and photo updates sprinkled throughout the day. I also keep my calendar flexible whenever possible, so if your plans change or you need help on short notice, don't hesitate to reach out. If I can make it work, I'll always do my best.

Safety, trust & environment

I believe the safest daycare groups are built intentionally, not by simply saying yes to every booking. That's why I prefer to build relationships through walks, drop-in and/or sitter visits, or a meet and greet before welcoming dogs into daycare or boarding. Whether the care takes place in your home or mine, my philosophy stays the same: learn your dog's routines, understand what helps them succeed, and provide calm, structured care that's tailored to their individual needs. My home was designed specifically with dogs in mind. The fully fenced backyard features pet turf, pavers, and excellent drainage, which means zero mud—even during Seattle's rainy season. Dogs have room to zoom, play, sniff, sunbathe, or conduct important investigations that only they understand, all while play sessions are supervised by a constant referee. Dogs who demonstrate appropriate social behavior also earn access to the community toy box stocked with balls, rope tugs, chew toys, and other favorites. It keeps play rewarding, helps prevent unnecessary resource guarding, and ensures every dog has a positive experience. Cleanliness matters just as much as play. This is my home and backyard—not just a dog pen—so I take pride in keeping everything tidy, clean, and welcoming. Friends, family, guests, and dogs all enjoy this little Ballard unicorn of a yard, so it's maintained to the same standard I'd want for everyone. I clean consistently with pet-safe products and intentionally keep my daycare and boarding groups small so every dog receives plenty of attention, supervision, and opportunities to decompress throughout the day.

Information Felix L. would like to know about your pet

Every dog is unique, and the more I understand about yours, the better experience I can provide. Before we get started, I'd love to learn about your dog based on the service you're requesting. Depending on whether we're meeting for a walk, drop-in and/or sitter visits, daycare, or boarding, I'll ask about things like their daily routine, exercise needs, leash manners, recall, social skills, previous walking, daycare or boarding experience, comfort settling on their own, motivations, and any quirks that make them uniquely them. My goal isn't to judge your dog—it's to understand how I can best support them and whether we're a great fit for one another. Throughout our time together I'll naturally use positive reinforcement, recall techniques, redirection, and calm, consistent leadership. Dogs don't need perfect manners, but they should be able to respond to that structure so we can create a safe, successful experience for everyone involved. Every family has different routines, lifestyles, and goals for their dog. Some are working on new skills, while others simply want dependable, thoughtful care that reinforces the habits they've already built. My job isn't to change your dog overnight—it's to meet them where they are, work within the structure that's appropriate for them, and provide the same calm, balanced care I'd want for my own dogs. **A quick note:** If you're already aware that your dog isn't quite a fit for my style of care today, but you're interested in helping them get there, just let me know in advance—no judgment whatsoever. I genuinely appreciate owners who are honest about their dog's strengths and challenges. Depending on the situation, I may be able to lower my normal threshold for fit after a successful meet and greet and a paid trial for the service you're requesting. Following our initial assessment, I'll share my observations along with simple lifestyle coaching that I believe will help your dog become more successful within my style of care and support the goals you have for them. If we decide to move forward, I'll reinforce those same habits consistently throughout our time together so your dog gets plenty of positive repetitions in real-life situations. The dogs who tend to thrive most in my care have usually been introduced to a few simple foundation cues like sit, down, stay/wait, and coming when called—even if they're not yet perfectly consistent. My goal isn't to replace formal training, but to reinforce those everyday habits through calm, consistent leadership, structured routines, and lots of positive experiences together.

A typical day

The rhythm of my care mirrors what I believe is a healthy, balanced day for most family dogs. Rather than constant stimulation, dogs become part of a predictable routine with thoughtful supervision, plenty of opportunities to play, explore, rest, and simply be dogs. Whether I'm caring for your dog in your home or mine, that balanced approach stays the same. Throughout the day, dogs under my personal care rotate between neighborhood walks, drop-in or sitter visits, backyard play, sniff sessions, enrichment activities, potty breaks, quiet decompression, and one-on-one attention. Every routine is intentionally designed to mirror a healthy, balanced day in a real home rather than constant stimulation from start to finish. Dogs who thrive in my care are comfortable settling into 30–60 minute decompression breaks while I tackle consulting work, scheduled walks, drop-in or sitter visits, or the occasional errand. That natural rhythm allows me to safely care for multiple families while maintaining the calm, structured environment that's at the heart of my philosophy. My own dogs have always enjoyed the best of both worlds. They're welcome to sleep in bed with me, yet they're equally comfortable settling in their own space with minimal separation anxiety. I believe the ability to confidently relax, decompress, and settle independently is one of the healthiest life skills a family dog can develop. That same balanced philosophy naturally carries over into the care I provide for every dog, whether they're staying in my home or I'm caring for them in theirs. For me, that's the difference between simply watching dogs and creating an environment that mirrors real life. It's the same balance, routines, and home environment I've raised all of my own dogs in—and the same experience I strive to provide for yours. My hope is that while you're away, your dog enjoys life rather than simply waiting for you to come home, and the best compliment I can receive is hearing they settled right back into their normal routine when they did.

Pet care experience

Hello! I'm Felix—the neighborhood Liver Treat PEZ Dispenser dogs have secretly been talking about. Today I split my time between consulting work and pet care. One unexpected benefit of leaving the traditional corporate tech grind is that I finally have the flexibility to spend more time doing something I've genuinely enjoyed for years—working with dogs. I've raised and trained three champion Boxers over the past 20 years, from puppyhood through every life stage, so I'm very comfortable with high-energy dogs, giant personalities, structured routines, and the occasional stubborn streak. Along the way I've trained through AKC Canine Good Citizen puppy classes, German Schutzhund foundation work, and advanced off-leash obedience. Each of my Boxers could confidently hold a stay with distractions from over 50 yards away, recall on command, and walk at heel completely off leash. Whether it's a quick neighborhood walk or a longer stay, I treat every dog like my own—with structure, focused play, plenty of one-on-one attention, earned rewards, and yes... probably a little too much silly dog talk. My goal isn't to create dogs that depend on me—it's to provide care that reinforces the healthy routines, confidence, and life skills you've already worked hard to build at home. These days I primarily provide structured neighborhood walks and drop-in visits throughout Ballard and the surrounding neighborhoods, taking advantage of the flexibility my consulting schedule provides. Most of the relationships I build begin with walks, drop-ins, or a meet and greet. Over time, dogs who thrive in my care and are a great fit may earn an invitation to boutique daycare or boarding, complete with a fully fenced backyard that's a bit of a unicorn in Ballard's dense city environment. I intentionally keep those services lower volume so every dog receives the same calm, structured attention that earned them a spot in the first place. After years of calendars, conference calls, forecasts, and executive meetings, I've discovered I much prefer helping a nervous dog gain confidence on a walk or convincing a puppy that the mystery object they found on the sidewalk is not, in fact, a snack. The dogs are usually easier to negotiate with. I've also spent plenty of time on the owner side of pet care. Between work travel, conferences, and long weekends away, I've personally used walkers, drop-in providers, daycare facilities, kennels, and sitters. A lot of what I do today comes from building the kind of calm, reliable, and communicative pet care experience I always wished I had available for my own dog. I know trusting someone new with your pet can feel stressful. My goal is simple: provide calm, structured, reliable care with plenty of communication, photos, and updates along the way so you can feel confident your dog is safe, understood, and having a great time.

Felix did the BEST job. He had great communication and was great at handling the crazy energy of my 65lb bowling ball. He even went above and beyond by doing some extra cleanup after Parker. 10/10, very highly recommend.
