For dogs, it is helpful to know their exercise needs, walking routine, and how they behave around other animals and people. I also appreciate clear emergency contact information, veterinary details, and any household rules that help maintain the pet's normal routine. A typical day
A typical day depends on the pet's needs and routine, but I always make sure they receive attentive, personalised care. For example, I have cared for several cats with different personalities and medical needs, including a diabetic cat that required insulin injections. In the morning, I would prepare fresh food and water, ensure the cat ate the appropriate amount of food, and administer insulin according to the owner's instructions. I would then clean food bowls, groom the cats if they enjoyed brushing, and spend time playing and interacting with them. For cats that are allowed outdoor access, I would supervise their routine and make sure they returned safely. Throughout the day, I regularly check food and water levels, monitor their behaviour and wellbeing, and keep litter trays clean and hygienic. I also provide plenty of affection, enrichment, and companionship, whether that means playing with toys, grooming, cuddling, or simply keeping them company.
