I am an academic (and animal lover!) living in Berkeley looking to spend some time walking, cuddling, and generally taking care of pets -- dogs, cats, and otherwise! I have lived with both cats and dogs before, including my beloved dog "niece" Stevie (pictured in my profile photo), who lives back in my hometown, Chicago. Back home in Chicago, I volunteered with One Tail At A Time shelter. Duties included playing with/socializing dogs, cleaning and sanitizing kennels, and lots and lots of laundry duty! My time volunteering in the shelter taught me how to interact with dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments. I have several friends who I have cat-sit for regularly and am looking to expand my network of cat-sitting and dog-sitting clients. I have both stayed over in people's homes and done more "drop-in" style pet-sitting depending on what works for the situation. When possible with cats I prefer indoor cats, but I have stayed with outdoor cats as well. I would call myself a moderately experienced dog walker who enjoys getting her steps in, but equally is happy to just take your dog around the block for some fresh air! I am an effective communicator and genuinely enjoy this kind of work!
Qualifications
Safety, trust & environment
Safety is a key concern of mine. For example, I do not walk animals with headphones in, as I prefer to be aware of my surroundings. I also prefer to do a "meet and greet" before working with an animal so they can identify me/my scent so that everyone feels safe and happy! I am happy to meet owners' individual safety needs.
Ratings and reviews
Evey was great with Tank! She was very communicative and professional. We did a meet&greet in the park the day before the sit, so she could see how ball-obsessed he is. And I think they both had fun!
Evey took care my cat and was brilliant! She was timely, provided all necessary food and scratches to my cat, and also send ample amounts of photos to me! She is really trustworthy and reliable and I would definitely recommend her!
Evey is responsible, attentive to details, and fastidious. And on top of all that, she loves dogs and cats! She has dog-sat for my 3 year-old pit bull (read: full of energy and in need of constant attention) on two separate occasions, and they were fast friends. Evey adhered to my instructions and learned Stevie's quirks quickly. She sent me lots of cute pictures and good reports on how Stevie behaved on her walks. When I came home, Stevie was happy, well-fed, and really missed Evey! 10/10 would trust her with my dog anytime.
I never worried for a second about trusting Evey with my very young puppy back when I'd only just gotten it. Evey has watched my dog several times since over the years, and is always communicative, responsible, loving, and top of my list when I need someone for any length of time.

Schedule
I am in academia -- mostly writing and researching -- and make my own schedule. I almost only work from home. This gives me great flexibility in working with your pets!
