Pet care experience

Rescuing, sheltering, caring!

I've had my own cats since as far back as I can remember. Got involved with local cat rescue 20 some years ago; spay & neuter, in-home foster care of cats & kittens, trimming lots of kitty toenails, holding adoption events, handling veterinary & medical needs. I've boarded others' cats since 2020 in spacious enclosures in the cat area at my home; providing responsible and loving care while their parents are gone out of town. Also have traveled to other parts of the country to assist with animal rescue - national disaster response for animals starting with 2005's Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana (providing rescue & care of displaced animals after storms, floods; helping to reunite or adopt out afterwards, etc.). Have assisted community animal shelters with hoarding cases in their jurisdiction - (seizure of animals and caring for them until court disposition).

Evelyn took such good care of Cocoa. Tried her best to get him to eat. Sent pictures of him. Much better experience than previous boarding experiences.

Evelyn took wonderful care of my senior cat. He had been refusing to eat, but she patiently tried a few different approaches and was able to get him eating again. She also sent plenty of updates throughout her visits, which gave me great peace of mind. I highly recommend her!

This is the second time we have booked with Evelyn. She takes great care of Jayden and we don’t have to worry about him while we are away. She checks in daily with pictures. Definitely going to be booking again.

Evelyn made us feel comfortable knowing our cats were safe, lots of pictures were sent and updates were given. Will definitely use her in the future and recommend her to others, as well.

Schedule

I'm self-employed as a Real Estate Agent & work from my home office, so it makes in-home cat care very convenient. I already foster numerous cats & kittens for the cat rescue group I'm involved with; have a great set-up to care for a few more! **BONUS: You can feel good that boarding fees earned will go toward the medical & daily care & support of the cats that I rescue & foster & help get adopted out into new homes.

Safety, trust & environment

Visiting cats are kept secure and safe in a specific cat area with individual large playpen-type cages; spacious enclosures with scratching posts, various levels, a carrier or box to hide in and toys to play with. Care is taken to clean and disinfect enclosures, litter boxes, bowls, bedding, toys, etc. to try to minimize spread of germs. My home provides a tranquil, smoke-free environment with 2 adults; no children or dogs (We've had a couple dogs in the past, but none currently). There are a few adult cats that we claim as our own, plus a couple of long-term medical issue fosters (that probably aren't going anywhere), and a variety of foster cats & kittens waiting to be adopted. (Located conveniently close to I-75 and the Liberty Mall exit in Mason)

Pets

A typical day

CATS - they're not usually very comfortable at first in new surroundings - so I follow their lead. If they want petting and cuddles; I'm happy to oblige but if they'd rather observe from a corner or behind something, or from inside their carrier; I respect that too. I provide toys in case they'd like to play (maybe bat at a feather wand?); soft bedding in case they'd prefer to sit back & watch.

Cats
Evelyn can host up to 8 pets per night
CATS - What kind of purrsonality does your cat have? Outgoing & confident or more reserved? What food are they eating (good idea to bring it, and keep them eating the same so their digestive system doesn't get messed up & cause diarrhea). Can they have treats? Are they taking any medication? Do they have any food allergies? ** For their safety, please bring your kitty in a carrier! ** And for MY safety, it would be great if you'd clip their claws prior to their visit!
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
