Nomadic veterinarian cares for pets
I am a veterinarian in my former career, now wandering the world as a digital nomad in my "working as little as possible era". Who better to come stay and take care of your pets while you go off worry free on your travels?! From pets that need special medications to senior pets or ones that you just want a better trained eye to catch any issues early! I've owned both dogs and cats myself, and have been on the other side of the fence, needing pet sitters through Rover, so understand how important it is to choose the right person to take care of your four legged furry family members. I have pet sit for family and friends' pets, been a foster mom for dogs and cats from the local humane society including puppies and kittens all the way to seniors with special needs. I was raised with dogs, and have had dogs and cats both in my adult life. You can find my linked in bio by searching for Erin Kilpatrick DVM. I am often back in the Boston and Seattle areas visiting family in between traveling abroad and would love to keep your four legged furry friend company while you travel. Additional 5* references/reviews can be provided.

Safety, trust & environment
I am open to discussing and trying to keep as normal of routine for your pets as I can. I am comfortable with them sleeping on the bed with me. I believe in making sure we follow the rules you have set out with obedience and what they can/can't do or where they can/can't go in the house. I wouldn't want your pet to be 'untrained' when you return. I won't feed people food unless you tell me it is ok and part of their normal routine. And I have no problem being strict with diets if your pet has allergies. I will ask that we review in detail (and left in writing) food/meal habits, normal potty habits, play habits, sleep habits, any past displays of aggression (biting, growling, hackles raised, etc) medications, vaccine history/flea control, are they the kind of dog that normally goes out and eats grass and vomits, etc, so I can have a good understanding of how best to care for and interpret any change in behavior. I am happy to pick up mail and other normal house routine care. I am much better at taking care of mammals than I am at plants, but am happy to do my best keeping plants happy and healthy also.
Ratings and reviews
Erin looked after our two dogs for about a week. She was friendly and communicative, sent us pictures every day, and left our house perfect. Knowing she was a vet was comforting! She even communicated that one of our dogs had loose stool on the first day that cleared up, and that it was likely due to nerves— not necessarily an assessment or report you’d expect from another dog sitter. We recommend her without any reservations!

Erin was a 5 star dog sitter! My dogs were so happy and content when I got home I wonder if they missed me at all! Ha. Erin sent fun photos and updates while she stayed and was quick to respond if I was wondering how my dogs were doing. Our house looked just like it did when we left. I would highly recommend having Erin care for your pets.

Erin did a wonderful job with our senior dog! It was comforting having a veterinarian watching her since she has a few health issues. We got frequent updates and could see that our dog was very happy. We’ll definitely book her again when she’s in the area!

Erin is a great pet sitter. In the interests of full disclosure, Erin is my sister. But here's why you should hire her over the others: she's a veterinarian (though not currently practicing), which has come in really handy for me. She's helped me take care of my cats for years, including with my last cat who had medical issues that she was able to assist with. She understands behavior issues. She can recognize signs of distress. And obviously she loves animals. I am a little particular about my pet sitters and have dealt with some irresponsible ones over the 22+ years I've had my own pets--ones who don't follow instructions, shortchange my cat on visits, or don't send updates like they promise. That doesn't happen with Erin. I jump at the chance to have her cat sit for me (which she's scheduled to do in a couple of months) and trust her completely as a pet-sitter (and house-sitter, for that matter).
It was so great having Erin in the area to watch my dog and cat (Daisy and Callie). We feel lucky she was passing through and the timing worked out as Callie had just had a bout of vomiting right before we left on vacation, and we were concerned about leaving her if she wasn’t on the mend. But having a vet there to finish out the medications and watch for anything worsening made us feel comfortable. All was fine, and we loved the picture updates we got of both of them. House was in great shape, litter box clean, and she had already started the sheets in the washing machine when we got back. I definitely will see if she is going to be in our area again for future trips we take to watch our babies as they seemed very happy with her.

Schedule
I will stay full time at your place, while doing some online digital nomad work. Therefore, I won't be gone for long periods for work. I usually travel in areas where I have family, so will go visit them for dinner or to take my niece and nephew to the park. I also like to explore areas that I am visiting, so will want to know how long your pet normally goes between potty breaks/meals/medications so I make sure I can properly attend to their needs in between outings and errands. But mostly, I relax at your place and enjoy the downtime.
- Cats0 to 15 lbsDogs over 1 year oldErin can host up to 1 pet per night
- I love specifics so I can keep of normal routines. So not just what/when to feed them, but what is their routine, what is 'normal' behavior for them? That goes for eating/drinking, urination/defecation habits (I am a vet, afterall ;) ), morning and evening routines, favorite toys, any normal or abnormal behavior to watch out for, exercise, giving medications (tips and tricks for that particular pet). I am open to meet n greets ahead of time, either in person or virtually to talk through some of this to make sure it is a good match for all. Please also share specifics about the house- mail, trash routine, if there is a lock that is sticky, finicky appliances, how to use the remote/TV set up, wifi password, information about the neighborhood, good places for walks, if your dog has a favorite park, etc.
