Erin & Sam 🐾 I grew up on a smallholding surrounded by animals: dogs, cats, horses, sheep, chickens... and even a tortoise! I've been around dogs my whole life, from Labradors, Border Collies, Lhasa Apsos and Yorkshire Terriers. After university, I also spent a couple of years doing paid dog walking. I live with my partner, Sam, who also loves dogs and appears in a couple of our photos. He's often around at home, meaning visiting dogs enjoy plenty of company, attention and a relaxed home environment. I'll always be your dog's primary carer and main point of contact throughout their stay We both really enjoy training and making it a fun activity for both us and the dogs. Even though my old black Lab, Otto, wasn't winning any Oscars for his rendition of "put 'em up... bang, bang!" (play dead), we both had a great time trying! 😄 Otto sadly passed away recently, but it has been lovely welcoming new four-legged visitors into our home. We’ve now completed a number of stays through Rover and have really enjoyed looking after other people's dogs and giving them the best possible experience. We have experience caring for senior dogs and are happy to adapt our routine to suit any specific needs while your dog is staying. We do regularly have foxes visiting our garden, especially around dusk, and we're very fond of them. If your dog has a high prey drive, please let us know so we can take the appropriate precautions at dusk.

Our anxious GSD has never been left overnight on his own before but Erin & Sam couldn't possibly have been more accommodating ! Buzz has clearly had a great time staying over at their beautiful home, exploring their fantastic safely enclosed garden too! What truly lovely, kind, caring & experienced dog lovers who knew instinctively how to calm our Buzzy boy & help him relax, whilst taking time to text us with lots of updates & photos! Erin’s 5 star care is truly priceless and most definitely to be recommended.

Erin was amazing with our mini schnauzer Max! He definitely has separation anxiety when we leave him, and she kept us updated on how he was doing with photos and videos making us feel so comfortable leaving him. Would absolutely recommend her and Sam and would absolutely have them watch Max again!

Schedule
We both work from home and spend loads of time outside, either in the garden or out on walks or runs. Would love a running buddy if your dog enjoys that but equally happy to keep a short walk schedule, or even just have a play in the garden if that suits better. There will be no other pets in the house when your dog’s staying. Our schedule is totally flexible, and really we just love having a dog around to play games and go on adventures with. Your pup will fit right in!

Safety, trust & environment
The garden is totally enclosed in a quiet part of the city, but we’ll still keep a close eye on your dog when they’re outside. I think that a clear routine and calm structure helps dogs settle and feel at ease, so I try to create a comfortable, safe and fun space with consistent boundaries. We do have a big pond, which we’ll introduce dogs to carefully to avoid them going in.
A typical day
We have a pretty big garden with plenty nooks and crannies to explore - which means lots of smells! It’s ideal for all kinds of scent games, so your dog will never be bored. The house is right next to Holyrood Park and not far from Portobello beach, so we’ll go plenty of woodland walks, hill walks or beach walks, and in the evening your doggy can chill by the cosy fire place. We also have a car, and like to take the dogs to the quieter beaches around East Lothian from time to time.

- Dogs should be house trained with basic manners and an understanding of boundary setting in a new space (our old leather chesterfield sofa is off limits). If your dog has any specific needs or routines we’re always happy to accommodate. Please let us know if your dog has a prey drive, so we’re aware around the fox scents in the garden especially at dusk.
