Safety, trust & environment

I try to preserve whatever routines your pets have and maintain whatever spaces they spend time in. If crating is part of their routine I will certainly maintain that. I take great care in maintaining the safety and security of your home while I’m staying there.

Information Erin C. would like to know about your pet

I always like to know about ongoing behavioral issues before dog sitting, so that I can make sure I'm doing everything possible to support your dog's good habits and create a sense of consistency for them with the instruction they're given by their owners. Obviously I want to know any medical conditions or potential medication needs. I like to know how a dog is around other dogs, even though I have no dogs of my own, because I like to let a dog be social on our walks if that's something he or she can handle. I think it's very important in a city, too, to be informed about any behavioral triggers a dog might have; a lot of unexpected things can happen on a walk.

A typical day

For every walk, I budget 20-45 minutes, depending on what your dog needs. I usually plan to do 2-3 of these per day, plus additional pee/poop breaks as needed. But this schedule can be adjusted if necessary. If weather is bad and the walks are shorter as a result, I always budget in extra indoor playtime so that your pup still gets some exercise and enrichment. I'm also fine if your dog wants to sleep in bed with me (and equally fine if you prefer the dog stays off your furniture!)

Pet care experience

Hi there! I'm an artistic professional and educator who primarily teaches from home, which allows for a lot of flexibility in my schedule. I’m not able to have pets at the apartment I live in, so I take great joy in the time I get to spend with your animals. I love the outdoors, and I'm very active, so if you have a dog who needs lots of exercise, I'm always up for it! But if your dog is older or just a mellower breed, I also love to just stay in with some chew toys and cuddle. I have a combined 13 years' professional dog walking/dog sitting experience--and a lifetime of experience loving dogs. I have substantial experience dealing with behavioral challenges, so if there's a particular habit you're trying to curb or a good one you're trying to instill, I will definitely do my part to help while I'm with your pet. I know how much environment affects a dog's well-being, so even when your dog can't be with her human for a few days, at least she can be in her home; I want to help make that happen!

Erin was great with my dog! Before she stayed over, we did a couple introducing with my dog since he can be a bit anxious. Erin was thoughtful in understanding his routines to make my dog comfortable. During the stay she provided updates and spent quality time with my dog which he loved. She was so helpful with things like taking the trash bins out which she did not have to do, and I was very comfortable with her staying at my place for several nights. Thank you, Erin!

Erin is everything that one could hope for in someone caring for your beloved pet - responsible, respectful, dependable, attentive and communicative. Most of all, she spent quality time and bonded with my little buddy so that he felt safe and comforted in my absence. Her daily updates provided me with relief, and she ultimately left him in the same physical and emotional shape (or better) than when I left town nearly two weeks prior. I highly recommend Erin and only hope that she's available the next time I (and my pup) are in need!

Erin is THE BEST. After some bad experiences with other Rover sitters, we're more grateful than ever to have her. Erin is communicative and professional (a BIG plus for us, since so many Rover sitters aren't), she looks after our place, and, most importantly, our pups love her. We never have to worry when Erin is looking after our dogs, even when we're spending two weeks on the other side of the world.
