Pet care experience

Professional, secure playful care

I’ve always adored cute little furry friends, and now that I've spent more time getting to know different pets, I realize that there is so much more to our furry friends then being cute companions. They are complex and multifaceted creatures who deserve to be welcomed with open arms, shown dignity and joy and appreciation. So much thought goes into loving animals. though Ive only been a caretaker on rover for about 3 years, I have a lifetime's experience as a caretaker and nurturer of many different animals. I have loved my experience and learned a lot in my time with pets, owners and my fellow care-takers. I've also learned a lot from different sitters and client's feedback. On an added note; in order to better myself professionally and as a human being, I have sought to learn through articles in magazines, constructive criticism from owners, a lot of podcasts and tutorials and books, most importantly from engaging with each furry friend I have had the pleasure of booking. Being a natural caretaker and mother, I go into each situation with an open mind, willingness to learn more, and a compassionate heart. I am highly attentive and often just work with one pet or a family of pet's at a time, so I can provide them one-on-,one, quality nurturing and activity The fur-babies have my undevided attention, while i keep a calm demeanor and relaxed armosphere to put them at ease and they usually warm right up to me. They seem to always know that I am responsible for them when they are in my family's home! I have a dog at home, which will give your pet someone to play with, If I am boarding or providing daycare from my home. I do provide feline care and I am able to keep felines separated from dogs with a gate at the bottom of my stairs, an other gate and a play pen. (If needed)I have had cats all of my life. I want to be a caretaker you can trust and depend on, to ease your mind while you are living life when you can't bring your pet. I am one you can trust to be gentle, playful, respectful and motivated to meet my client's specific needs. I have a lifetime of experience. For starters, from as young as twelve years old, I would walk and play with family's dogs and at 15 I lived with a jack russell and pug. I approach the transition from fur-parent to myself as primary caretaker, with sensitivity, reliability and a sense of a fun retreat for the pet, while assuring them, sometimes, that their owner won't be away for ever. I have even skyped with pet and pet-parent when they missed each other! From the tiniest teacup Chihuahua, to a little white poodle, to a golden retriever, Burmese mountain dog, and a beautiful gentle giant great dane and providing care for other breeds in my own home, I have an eclectic range of experience caring for all pets of all shapes and sizes.(and ages) I have also house sat, done scheduled dog walks and drop ins. I have my own dog who I am solely responsible for, a full-bread Pomeranian puppy named Shelly. I have a little playpen to make the smaller pups feel safe, a snuffle mat, balls, tug of war rope, two different sized kongs, balls, chew toys, puzzles, beds and treats and comfy spots. I get barkbox, so that subscription allows me to have a well rounded abundance of toys which are always fresh and clean. If a toy is damaged, I don't think twice about tossing it. I love taking pets for long hikes and walks, whether I'm dogsitting at my house or yours. All breeds and ages welcome. And I'm sure to take extra care with puppies, senior and special needs dogs. I also have experience, having had cats and dogs all throughout my life. I even did a clicker-therapy training course. My ultimate goal is to make every pet around me feel and be: safe, happy, comfortable and at home with me. I always make sure pets get plenty of water and bathroom breaks, which can sometimes be before I start getting my sixth-grader ready for school! They can be crated if you provide, or they can sleep with me, whatever your preference! I care for my own Pomeranian and have had long term boarders, though none as of right now My fur babies get along with all pets, but if for whatever reason, our pets aren’t compatible, I can put up gates. I will follow whatever diet you have for your dog but have plenty of treats of my own. I also have first aid tools and tools and activities to keep the dogs happy and occupied. I will accommodate each dog according to their own routine as every dog is different with a unique personality and different needs. I can walk dogs, carry small dogs, Of course it's a given to get the basics out of the way: make sure they are fed and have unlimited fresh water, and frequent bathroom breaks. I'm always sure to clean up after the pet and myself. I can bathe dogs and definitely let them run, and play ball. what i do is my passion and i do it with my whole heart, and i will make these dogs happy dogs! I could fill hundreds of pages with lessons learned and experiences gained, being a pet sitter. One such experience entailed two pomeranians I had been watching since they were 7 months old, a boy and a girl. Before we knew it, they were full grown. Their owner asked me to sit for them for about a week. She had no idea, and let me tell you the surprise she got when I told her that the female had given birth in a dog bed in my living room. 5 puppies! It was beautiful, overwhelming and very rewarding. Their Family asked me if I could keep the dogs and pups an extra 3 days (for a fair price). I made sure pup-Mom had constant access to food, sometimes hand-feeding her while she nursed. She cared a lot for her pups, fiercely protective, but trusted me to help her. She was a new dog-mom and I would wake up in the Middle of the night to the pups whining and have to move the pups from under Mom, to nursing position. When family picked them up and brought them to the vet, he said they were in excellent health They were beautiful. I am now the proud fur-mom to one of those puppies. She's my world. There are pics on my profile. With each experience I walk away with a new perspective, sense of humility and gratitude. I'm known for watering a plant or two while dropping in/housesitting. One family had me feed their axolotl! So I'm no stranger to special requests. And don't worry, I send lots of vids and pics (unless it would disrupt your trip, and you request a limit/specific times, or just otherwise)

Erin helped us out on very short notice (less than 24 hours!) when a house sitter fell through at the last minute. She did a superb job taking care of our dog, and sent twice daily updates. Our dog is difficult, but she handled it like a pro. When an emergency situation arose involving animals she was not tasked with caring for, Erin gave us all the information that we needed immediately, and helped us to resolve it from 300 miles away. We highly recommend her to anyone for home visits, thank you Erin!!!

Calendar and availability

Schedule

I walk my own dogs, bathe, feed and cuddle them regularly. I also groom and brush them. I have some other clients I've been walking. I'm sure to use care and patience with any dog who is low energy, or has hip or leg problems. I boarded lovely kitties long term. The cats I boarded, my dog, and the elderly dogs I've walked, get plenty of bathroom breaks and love. I am open to new clients and have handful or two of regulars. I do drop-ins, housesitting, dogwalking, boarding and daycare. And have learned to put lots of thought and care into my work, have extra of everything on hand and learned to improvise. I also bring plenty of water if we are going on a hike.

Safety, trust & environment

During drop ins I always make sure the house is locked up and things are put back in a safe place. I will be sure to strip your guest bed unless otherwise advised not to, when I house sit. I send tons of pictures while pets and myself are on our adventures or just chilling around the house Animals are cared for, always provided with fresh water, cleaned up after, given plenty of play time and mental stimulation, cuddled and given attention. During house sitting, boarding, day care, drop-ins and dog-walking they are treated as I would treat my own pets, I adorn them with pristine care and attention and love and follow directions exactly as the owner provides. I go above and beyond to accommodate clients and have a flexible schedule. Guests in my home, or when I visit yours, are welcomed like family, and tended to as appropriate. I respect all boundaries In a drop-in or house sitting situation. I will leave your home in order, like nobody was ever there when housesitting or dropping in . I respect all clients' wishes such as whether or not my son is able to accompany me or not, which areas are off limits. I bring my own hygiene products and food of course. And I sometimes bring over a bag of my own treats and toys ! I have experience with puppies, big young dogs, seniors, and special needs dogs and lots of experience with cats and kittens. I also have experience with dogs who have been through trauma and have separation anxiety. I stay right by their side and soothe with the attention necessary for your fur baby. It is a privilege to care for your pet. I aspire to leave your pet feeling secure and loved. And I am driven to continue to do work that reflects an ethical and caring character, learning on the way, with my journey with rover. I'd like to add that before each stay, my home is doggy proofed, so that any food or items they could chew or would potentially be hazardous to them, is made unavailable. I provide a clean, safe enviornment, though modest.

Pets

A typical day

I am very patient. I can be firm with a pet if needed, but we also have a lot of fun! I will take my time with pets and care for them according to their needs, whether that means letting them sniff around, or run around. I love to play ball. I love buying toys for my dogs and taking them for long walks and always make sure they have plenty of water on a hot day. I can take dogs swimming if they are permitted. There is a path in the woods with a little stream that is great to take local dogs, by the rotary near where i live. And your pet always brings a smile to my little son's face. Whether I'm house sitting at your place, dropping in for a quick visit or walk, or boarding or providing doggy daycare at my cozy little nest of a mismatched home, which I share with my ten year old son and other family, along with my pets, who get along with all dogs and cats, my services çan serve as a great asset when you can't be there. Just let me know what you need.

I like to stay informed about the pets I work with. For example, if they would be okay around my ten-year-old son. My ten-year-old is friendly, but cautious and gentle. He knows not to bug moody dogs or overstep boundaries. He's actually extremely helpful, intuitive and seems to comfort animals sometimes. It's important to know the pups basic routine and diet, also if they have a medication regimen. I would like to know if your pet is special needs or has certain stimuli that triggers them. Special needs include, stiff hips and joints, or blindness, deafness or partial deafness, food sensitivity or allergies, also if they are prone to things Like siezures, or Their legs going numb. Stimuli includes anything that may trigger the dog, For instance, some dogs are scared of storms, some chase trucks. also, if they are high energy . It would be helpful to inform me if the pet can't have certain foods. also if the dog or cat is on any medication and how much and how it is administered, and how often. I'd also like to know if there are medical need such as difficulty walking, using stairs, diabetes, if they get along with other dogs and cats All of these conditions can be treated based on each individual pup's needs. I would also like to know things like: do they have separation anxiety, does your feline tend to hide? how long can your pet be left alone? are they crated? Are they intact? what is their demeaner or personality? Does the dog resource guard, does the dog tend to try to escape? will the pup get along with my pomerainian or my cat?…are they reactive on walks, to other People/dogs? Also if they recently sustained an injury, or had a medical procedure. As well as if there are certain behaviors or stimuli to avoid to put your furry friend through as little stress as possible. What certain commands do you use that seem to work with them? Also, how do they react to stress? Changing enviornments and caretakers for lengthy periods can be stressful to a pet. I understand that every pup is unique with their own personality and background, and should be cared for according to their customary necessities.. I look forward to discussing more if you'd like to schedule a meet and greet! I love meeting fellow animal lovers and pet owners! I hope that I may be of assistance with whatever you may need!
