Only 1-2 dogs w big fenced yard!
Growing up my big family always had two or more dogs at a time & since leaving home I haven't had the opportunity to become a dog dad myself. Before signing up with Rover (and still), I've always bothered the neighbors to let me take their dogs out on walks/runs with me and was the first to volunteer to dog sit for any friends or family in the area. Unfortunately, many of these dogs have moved away. I'm here to fill this furry void with your dog if you let me! I live in a three-bedroom house in Valparaiso on a quarter of an acre with a large fenced in back yard. I have a couple roommates that are fellow dog lovers and will happily let them out, etc. if I’m not home. I work on Eglin as a civilian. I’ll usually limit the dogs to two at a time.

Ratings and reviews
Let me start out by saying that I have been using Rover since its inception so I have had the opportunity of using many of Rovers sitters, that said out of all of them Erik was the very best.. He was so kind to my boys that I felt like I was leaving them with family.. Erik sent videos and pictures daily and kept in touch almost everyday..with a fenced in back yard. And multiple daily walks my boys had their exercise!! The best part for me is he didn’t take in multiple ( 4-6) pets like others that I have used.. He is #1on my list..

I was so lucky to find Eric! I have an Am. Staffordshire Terrior that does not play well with other dogs. She is territorial and anxious in unfamiliar places. Most dog sitters have their own animals or double book clients. I cringed when I took Spooky over to meet with him and she growled at him from the car. He remained relaxed and confident, let me show her around his yard and house. He chatted with me to find out her personality quirks and history. I felt very safe leaving my dog with him. He provided pictures of her walks every day. I was impressed at his efforts to win her over and how he also gave her space to warm up to him. I especially respected how he declined taking her at first as he had another skittish dog he was watching at the time. I changed the dates for my request and he was able to give her that same individual attention. She was happy to come home. But I know she will not mind going there again.

Erik was absolutely amazing with our dog Koa! This was our first time ever being away from him since we adopted him, so we were pretty nervous. Erik immediately put our minds at ease by promising to take great care of our baby, and he absolutely delivered. He honored our request to send multiple pictures and updates every day, which meant so much to us. It was obvious Koa was getting plenty of love, attention, and exercise, and Erik truly treated him like he was his own dog. We couldn't have asked for a better first boarding experience. We would 100% book with Erik again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their pet!

Erik took such good care of Cookie and sent us updates with photos every day! She seemed super happy staying with him and we felt confident that she was well cared for!

Absolutely amazing as always! My dogs always have the best time. They get so much love and Erik is always so happy to see them!

Koda always comes back from Erik happy and healthy! 5-star sitter every time!

Schedule
During a normal work week I’ll be gone from roughly 9am-5pm, but I’m off every other Monday, weekends, and holidays. I come home during my lunch break if necessary. If there is a dog in the house I’m up and ready when they are even if it is earlier than I am used to. If it’s a super energetic dog I’m willing to get them out on a walk before I go to work. I’m home during the evenings everyday with exception to Wednesdays when I play pool. I’m able to let the dog out, feed them and walk them after work and before I leave on those days.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
If you don’t crate your dog when you leave your home, I’ll trust them the same at my house. Dogs are able to free roam in the house and are welcome on the couches/beds. There is no dog door here and when I let them out I’m always with them. I do have a crate here if one is needed along with a couple sets of dog bowls, a medium dog bed and some toys. During your dogs visit I am happy to walk them everyday if you would like. I've only met a few dogs in my life that I didn't get along with. I'm comfortable around any breed or size of dog, but some small ones can be a little skittish since I'm a pretty big guy.
A typical day
I have a massive backyard at the house that gives dogs plenty of room to run and play. First thing in the morning is we go out back and let them run around and potty for 10-15 minutes. I’ll then feed them and get ready for work and let them out about a half hour later or so before leaving. I’m able to come home from work for lunch around 11-12 if they need to be let out. I get home around 4pm and get them out for a 1-2 mile walk around the neighborhood.
