There’s no place like home!❤️❤️❤️

Pet care experience

Hello everyone! My name is Erica and I have been house sitting and dog walking on Rover since 2019 and I absolutely love it! This is what I do full time and I wouldn't change it for anything else in the world! You can rest assured that I will love and care for your fur baby as my own. It’s easy for me to do since I love animals very much! I’m a big fan of snuggles, cuddles and play! I understand that being apart from your fur baby can be difficult and want you to feel comfortable with your dog and/or cat in my care! So I make sure to send daily updates and check-in as often as you'd like. With that said, I would love to meet your fur baby and have the privilege of taking care of him/her! Trust is very important to me, so I can definitely provide references upon request. Or you can simply check out my raving Rover reviews! Looking forward to meeting and taking care of your cute fluffy fur babies soon! If it’s your first time using Rover welcome! I provide discount for first time Rover users😊👍 Dog walking and Drop-in visit services in Pilsen neighborhood only. My schedule is super flexible. So I am able to work around your schedule. I dedicate my full time to doing this great fun job! I love house sitting! The way I do house sits is to simply follow the written instructions that doggy and kitty parents give me. That way their routines don't change at all while parents are gone. I am doing this full time and love every minute of it! I love dogs and cats very much, so this is a perfect fit for me! The way I care for pets is how the parents tell me to care for them. I am grateful that the parents always leave me detailed instructions I can follow and of course I always ask questions if I need further clarification on something.

We recently hired Erica through Rover for a two week Europe trip, and unfortunately, it turned out to be the most disastrous pet sitting experience we have ever encountered. She was completely incompetent and displayed a shocking level of negligence throughout her tenure. First and foremost, she left our one cat Magnolia LOCKED OUT on the balcony for hours on end in the summer heat. She said she “closed the balcony door and forgot to check” and when she came back for her evening visit, she discovered our poor baby locked outside and she had actually pooped herself and peed all over the balcony due to the extended period of confinement. This kind of negligence is simply unforgivable and speaks volumes about the sitter's utter lack of care and responsibility. Magnolia is a Persian and this caused her fur to become completely matted, so Erica said she would send us money to cover the cost of grooming from her careless mistake and has yet to do so. To make matters worse, Erica failed to provide even the most basic necessities for Magnolia and Violet’s well-being. The water bowl remained untouched and stagnant throughout the entire duration of their service. Each photo sent by her depicted a water dish that was low and disgustingly dirty, indicating a complete disregard for our pet's hydration and cleanliness. I had to tell her to do her job and fill up and clean out the water bowl. She even sent a photo of our cat eating from her food dish with a computer cord dangling from above and wrapped around her neck. I had to ask Erica to unplug the cord and put it away two separate times. Furthermore, it seems that Erica conveniently forgot to check out after every visit, raising serious doubts about her integrity. It is highly suspicious that she consistently failed to accurately document their visits, leading us to believe she was likely just coming in to quickly feed our cat and then leaving without fulfilling her duties. We had to tell Erica to give the keys to our building and scramble to find a new sitter to come sit in while we were on our honeymoon in Europe. The new sitter sent us photos of Magnolia’s fur completely dreadlocked, litter and dried food all over the apartment, a dirty, nearly empty water dish, and dried throw up and poop on our floor. The state Erica left our home in was shocking. In light of this abysmal experience, we wholeheartedly advise against hiring Erica. Her incompetence, negligence, and lack of professionalism have left us profoundly disappointed and deeply concerned for the welfare of our cats. In fact, I have no clue how she has so many five star reviews and I think they must be fraudulent. We strongly caution anyone considering her services, as this was by far the worst pet sitting experience we have ever had. Look elsewhere for a reliable and trustworthy cat sitter who genuinely cares for your pet's well-being because Erica does not.

This was my first time using the Rover app and will unfortunately the last. In the past 12 years of having my cats I’ve relied on friends and family to check in every couple days to make sure they are good while I am away. For these two weeks, everyone I knew was also taking time off so I turned to Rover for assistance. Erica and I met prior to me leaving and she is very friendly and seemed to get along with the cats just fine. I explained the scooping/automatic feeders and provided her with parking stickers for the street. I initially booked 6 visits but after meeting her I requested 4 but was willing to pay the same amount if she could also check on our plants. She expressed that she understood how to take care of plants and that this wouldn't be a problem. I left the watering can, scooper, garbage bags and all the plants in one area to make it easy. The first visit went smoothly although she did not take any photos. She apologized for this. For the next three visits she either forgot or started the visit card but wasn't yet at our home. This was not a problem for me. After the first week before the 3rd visit I asked how the plants were doing as I did not receive any feedback, specifically a baby tree that had just sprouted and that would need water every few days. She indicated the plants were all fine and none needed water or were drooping. She also mentioned she could not find the plant in question after two visits (we only have one tiny, 1-inch plant) For the final visit she left the key with our landlord, which they received, and everything seemed fine. Unfortunately, when we arrived home (two days after the last visit) we found 4 plants completely dead and others yellowing, drooping or without water. The cats were also meowing A LOT. I once left my cats home for 5 days when they were younger and they meowed so much when I returned home I’ve never done it since. Three days is about their max. This obviously concerned me as it is Saturday and she was just here Thursday. I also noticed the litter was scooped but I did not see it in the trash, I checked the toilet (wild guess) and could see litter at the bottom. We use clay litter so I am hoping this isn’t the case. The red light on the automatic dry food was also on and the water level was less than half on the automatic water bowl. Part of the visit so close to our return was in the event our flight was delayed, someone was just here and we wouldn't have to worry. Sadly, I am glad we are home and I really wanted to like this app but I would not recommend. She has very good reviews so not sure what went wrong with our home but I really wanted to tip the remaining funds. She did adjust our 6 visits to 4 after we met so she didn’t receive the additional money but I did want this to be a great experience. I will go back to making arrangements with friends/family or consider boarding next time. I also want to mention that we have a camera inside the home. The camera picked up her first visit only. We specifically moved everything into one space to make it easier for her to come and go (to value her time). Doors were open that we closed intentionally as we are in the process of moving. She spent several minutes in other rooms. Again, this didn't concern me much if it is done to check on the home in general (checking windows/doors/cat puke) but that should only take a few seconds. Not suggesting any wrongdoing but just something to point out.

We had such a great experience with Erica that we rebooked her again. We feel great knowing our cat baby is being well taken care of.

Information Erica S. would like to know about your pet

The most commonly asked questions I make to doggy parents is how many walks does their fur baby get per day? How long are their walks? And do they take medicine? And how do they interact with other dogs?

A typical day

I always ask the parents what their fur babies like to play. That way I can play their favorite games with them! It makes me happy to see them happy!
